Work will come alive this weekend at Lethbridge College as students from four programs will be working together to highlight each other’s abilities.

Collide-O-Scope is a unique, high-energy fundraiser with all the funds raised going back to the school of media and design. The event this year will encompass various aspects of interior design, multimedia, digital communications and media and fashion.

This year, attendees will have a chance to experience new technology to the programs. This will be the first year they will be using virtual reality.

The students will have the opportunity to compete in games featuring virtual reality in the form of games designed by the students.

“Virtual reality is certainty one area where industries related to our programs are growing, and the college is pleased to be leading this transformation,” said Vicki Hegedus, chair of the school of Media and Design.

Those who will be in attendance will also get the chance to see the work of students right in their hands. This is possible through augmented reality that has been put together, showcasing videos, 3D models, graphic designs, websites and more by the individual students.

“I’m really excited to showcase our physical portfolios where I can show off all the things we have learned,” said Kelley Hogarth, a student in the interior design program.

Along with the new aspects there will be many that are returning including the fashion show. All the clothes modelled will be designed by the fashion students.

Interior Design students will be making the backdrop for the fashion students show as part of their overall design.

“(It) emphasizes communication, which is very important in all four industries associated with the school of Media and Design,” said Hegedus.

The Collide-O-Scope event will take place on Saturday. Tickets can be purchased online at lethbridgecollege.ca/collideoscope. They are $10 in advance or $15 at the door.
