A Lethbridge man who sold drugs to an undercover police officer has been sent to jail.

Richard Giroux pleaded guilty Thursday in Lethbridge provincial court to a single count of drug trafficking and was sentenced to six months behind bars.

Court was told Giroux, 49, met with the undercover cop on Sept. 1, 2015 and sold the officer two oxycodone pills for $80.

In addition to jail, Giroux is prohibited from possessing certain firearms and weapons for 10 years and others for life. Items seized during the police investigation were also forfeited to the Crown for destruction.

Giroux’s brother, Jason, was also charged with drug trafficking, theft under $5,000 and trafficking stolen property, but the charges were withdrawn Thursday.
