Which other projects were approved on Thursday for inclusion in the draft 2018-27 CIP?

– Lethbridge Public Library – Crossings Branch (asked for $933,000) – approved 8-1 as amended to $208,000 in 2018 for upgraded ventilation system, $725,000 in 2022 for 2,600 square-foot expansion;

– Yates Enhancement ($9.8 million) construction of lobby expansion and second floor, Sterndale Bennett lobby and second floor, dressing room and second floor addition at the rear – approved 6-3 as amended to defer project to 2022/23;

– 3 Avenue South (Stafford Drive to Mayor Magrath Drive) Beautification ($300,000 for concept design in 2018, $1.9 million in 2022, $1.6 million in 2027) – approved 9-0;

– 4 Avenue South Enhancements (asked for $2.4 million) – approved 5-4 as amended to focus on area between 5 Street and 7 Street South, with patio bumpouts available throughout downtown core, and reduced budget to $1 million;

– Arena Replacement ($30 million in 2024-27) to design and construct a new twin ice arena and demolition of the Civic Ice Centre – approved 6-3;

– Royal View Memorial Cemetery Phase 2 ($2.2 million in 2025-26) – approved 8-1.

Which other projects were defeated Thursday?

– Fairmont Multi-Use Sports Court ($425,000) – defeated 4-4, Hyggen recused;

– Downtown gateways ($1.3 million) – defeated 7-2;

– Community entrance gateways ($1.9 million) – defeated 7-2;

– 5 Street South (1 to 6 Avenue) reconstruction ($12.6 million) – defeated 5-4;

– Multi-Purpose All Weather Fields at the North Lethbridge Sports Park ($5 million) – defeated 8-1.
