Two more acts have been booked for the signature event of the University of Lethbridge’s 50th anniversary.

Vancouver indie band Mother Mother and singer-songwriter Virginia To Vegas were announced Wednesday as the latest additions to the Shine On Summer Festival concert set for Sept. 2 at the U of L Community Stadium.

The initial concert lineup was announced in March, featuring headliners Dallas Smith, Corb Lund, and the Washboard Union.

The overall three-day festival, running Sept. 1-3, will also have a 20-minute fireworks show featuring the Canadian National Fireworks Team, alumni activities, and a free community fair highlighting arts, culture, food and drink, song and dance and sporting events.

for all ages.

The event is a partnership between the U of L, the Enmax Centre and promoter Ron Sakamoto, who was involved in helping to secure the musical acts and fireworks team.

Organizers say they hope to draw about 7,000 or 8,000 people for a “weekend of music, culture and community,” built around the Alumni Homecoming. The Saturday concert will take place from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. with tarps to be placed over the artificial turf, and a large stage to be rolled in.

Tickets are available online at enmaxcentre.ca, by phone at 403-329-7328 or in person at the Enmax Ticket Centre.
