who overcame addictions will be event’s guest speaker
It might be cold right now, but spring will be coming, and so will another running season.
The 2018 Runner’s Soul Marathon Club will hold its registration night Monday starting at 7 p.m. at the University of Lethbridge, in Room PE250.
The event is free and everyone is welcome.
Guest speaker for the event will be Tarrant Cross Child, who was the winner of the 1998 Saskatchewan Marathon in his hometown of Saskatoon.
Cross Child was making his way up in the national rankings as a marathoner before a decade-long alcohol and gambling addiction derailed his running career – and nearly cost him his life.
Thanks to an intensive rehabilitation program and the love of his wife and four children, Cross Child is back training, coaching and sharing his story with Indigenous youth across Canada.
Find out more about his story in a Canadian Running Magazine article, online at https://runningmagazine.ca/tarrant-cross-child-rehab-running-rising-north/.
