By Lethbridge Herald on February 4, 2015.

Tractor-trailer units don’t often lose a battle during a collision.
But Tuesday night in Coaldale, a unit was badly damaged after a run-in with a train.
Tuesday at approximately 6:35 p.m., the Lethbridge Regional Police Service responded to a collision on Highway 845, just north of Highway 3 in Coaldale. Investigation revealed a southbound tractor-trailer unit was struck by a westbound train. Vehicle and railway traffic was stopped for approximately two hours.
No injuries resulted from the collision. The tractor-trailer unit was empty at the time, but sustained extensive damage to one of its trailers, according to police. The train was transporting ninety-six grain cars, and suffered minimal damage.
The driver of the tractor trailer unit, a 65 year old man from Lawtonia, Sask., was charged with failing to proceed through a railway crossing in safety after stopping.
