The Lethbridge Regional Police Service has charged a 31-year-old Lethbridge resident in the stabbing that occurred March 7 in the area of 5th Avenue South and 5th Street South.
Police investigation revealed the 24-year-old victim and the accused were known to each other and involved in a dispute at the time of the occurrence. The accused presented a knife and slashed the victim in the face, which caused a significant laceration. according to police.
The victim was able to attract the attention of a passerby, who called 911. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the Chinook Regional Hospital, as police say the accused fled the scene.
Barry Joel Soosay, 31, of Lethbridge has been charged with aggravated assault, assault and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace. Soosay’s current whereabouts are unknown, and a warrant for his arrest has been issued.
