The cause of a fire earlier this month has yet to be determined.
Today, Lethbridge fire investigators concluded the investigation of a fire that occurred April 3 at the 1300 block of 3rd Avenue North. Due to the extensive fire damage, investigators said they were unable to determine the exact cause of the fire. The room of origin was the living room in the basement.
Residents are reminded to have a working smoke detector on every level of their residence. Smoke detectors must be maintained annually by checking batteries, cleaning and replacing the detector after 10 years of use, according to the city.
At approximately 11:50 a.m. on April 3, the Public Safety Communications Centre received a 911 call, reporting a residential structure fire in the 1300 block of 3rd Avenue North.
A total of 16 fire fighters from three stations responded, and noticed smoke coming from exhaust vents and roof eaves. The fire was quickly extinguished, and a primary fire investigation was initiated.
