Lethbridge city council is throwing its support behind the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ (FCM) campaign calling for a federal party leaders debate on municipal issues prior to the federal election this fall.
Council members approved an Official Business Resolution endorsing the FCM’s call for a National Leaders’ Debate on Municipal Issues, which has so far attracted positive responses from three of four federal parties. The New Democratic Party of Canada, the Liberal Party of Canada and the Green Party of Canada have all agreed to participate in the debate on municipal issues such as infrastructure, public transit and transportation, affordable housing, clean water, public safety and the environment.
