CALGARY – A convicted sex offender in Alberta who was rearrested last week is to go to trial in May on new charges.
Erik Wanamaker, who is 69, has appeared in a Calgary court after allegedly breaching a condition under a sex offender information law that he keep his address up to date.
A trial date has been scheduled for May 15.
Wanamaker, who is in custody and appeared in court via closed-circuit television, also faces charges related to the alleged theft of a credit card.
He has a criminal record dating back to the 1980s.
Wanamaker was put on the national sex offender registry in 2011 due to multiple convictions – including sexual offences against a young girl.
