ODILE SHOUTING
(NEE CHIEF BODY)
“KSISSTOITSIKKITSTAKI”
December 13, 1946 – July 22, 2013
It is with great sadness that the family of Odile Shouting announce her passing surrounded by family on July 22, 2013; it gives the family great comfort to know she will be joining her soul mate Eddie whom she spent 48 wonderful years and son Loboy. Together, they raised three sons and four daughters, as well as numerous grandchildren whom they loved unconditionally. Odile loved and cherished her family, each of her grandchildren held a special place in her heart.
Mom didn’t allow her illness to be a barrier when it came to her favorite past times which were arts & crafts, sewing, playing bingo, going to casino, visiting with family & friends in person and on the phone with her good friend, Sharon. Her favorite hobby was beading; this talent showcased her eye for detail in the stunning outfits she made for her daughter, granddaughters and Lil’ Ed. Mom’s legacy will carry on as Tamara & Lil’ Ed continue to dance in the outfits she designed and created. Prior to her illness, she and Eddie enjoyed travelling throughout North America to allow their daughter & granddaughters to participate in pow-wows; these travels allowed them to gain numerous friends and kinship.
She received her education on the Blood Reserve and in Fort Macleod. In her early years, Odile was employed by the Blood Tribe in numerous capacities but was a homemaker at heart. She was an avid animal lover and had an extraordinary love for her past and present pets.
Mom was diagnosed with diabetes at an early age which resulted in becoming a renal patient with the Fort Macleod Dialysis unit; the children of Odile would like to thank the nursing staff for all the comfort they provided for Mom with a special mention of one nurse, Malcolm whom she spoke so fondly of.
Mom will be forever missed by her children, Georgette (Danny), Kathy (Vince), Marvin (Sandra), Melanie (Malcolm) and Tamara; grandchildren, Arlene (Cleve); Troy (Skye); Kandyce; Gina (Nathan); Daisy (Alec); Freed (Vanessa), Tyne; Joe (Chelsey); Tasha (Zachary); Velvet, Kristal, her Lil’ Man “Ed”; great-grandchildren, Devon, Mathen, Drake, Buster, Josiah, Victor, Alora, Carlina, Savannah, Lily, Rumor, Silver, Louisa, LaDaya, Tandi, and Tylen.
