MCGLADDERY
MR. GARY MCGLADDERY of Pincher Creek passed away on July 28, 2013, at the age of 60 years.
Gary is survived by his sons, Kyle McGladdery, Tyler McGladdery, and Jason Trodden, sisters Patricia McGladdery, and Margaret (Orton) Bandarra, and brothers Alan (Judy), Dan (Hazel), Robert, Victor, Jack (Laurie) and Raymond (Joanne).
” I was born and grew up in Pincher Creek, AB. I went to work on the drilling rigs when I was seventeen and spent most of my time as a driller on the rigs, and taking a few years off to drill water wells. I have spent most of my life in Pincher Creek, In 2004 I was diagnosed with Bone Cancer, when the doctor informed me of my cancer, there was a nurse there to educate me about my condition; she suggested I find something creative to do. I think they tell everyone that. On the way home I thought, well it’s either knitting or painting, so I got some paint and brushes right away. So that’s how I got started. I tried to learn from books, but didn’t have much success. I got some instructional DVD’S from the Jerry Yarnell School of fine art, on composition, and perspective, techniques, etc. they helped a lot. I only sign the paintings that I’m happy with; I like to paint everything from barns, houses, fences, rivers, mountains, clouds, cows, horses, all Alberta, sometimes we don’t notice the beauty that surrounds us every day. It will keep me busy painting for a long time. Sometimes it feels strange that I Worked on the rigs all those years and now I paint pictures.
I would like to thank the doctor and all the nurses and staff at the Tom Baker Center, the Lethbridge and Pincher Creek Hospitals, for all their care and Kindness. Thank You “

Jan lived in numerous communities throughout British Columbia and in Alberta before settling in Lethbridge, where she met her future husband Dwight Tolton. On July 13, 1985, Janet married Dwight and made her roots on the farm north of Taber.
After receiving her PCA certification, Jan worked for Barons Eureka Warner and later the Taber Hospital for ten years. She was an advocate for the care and well being of others, especially children, the elderly and special needs. She acted as a voice for those who could not be heard. Jan took her kind and compassionate ways to the halls of the Vauxhall High School, where she worked as a Special Needs Assistant for eighteen years. She was active in the communities she lived in, particularly in the school network, acting as Parent Chair, leader for Safe and Caring committee, leader for student council and volunteering within the Vauxhall Academy of Baseball. In addition to her own children, Janet was a mother figure to so many over the years.  She always took the time to give advice, compassion and the comfort of a hug when needed. She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
