JANE ELIZABETH NASH, beloved wife of John Nash and mother of Joseph Wannop passed away peacefully in Lethbridge on Sunday, August 18, 2013.
Jane was born December 27, 1962 in High River, youngest daughter of Lawrence and Hazel Wannop of Nanton.
She is survived by her husband, John; her son, Joseph; her brothers: Alan (Barbara), David (Lourdes) and Donald (Dawnetta) and sisters: Jo-Ann (Donald) Peach, Marie (Dennis) Mertz, Linda Sue Wannop, Carol (Chris) Avery, Patricia (Daniel) Reid, and Roberta (Chris) Norton, over 30 nieces and nephews, many other relatives and her dear friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, her brother George, and an infant son, James.

If you had to use one word to describe Jane it would be ‘generosity’. Many of us have been on the receiving end of her baking, babysitting and the produce from her gardens. A corn bust at her home was an annual event for many years.
If Jane ever met you, she counted you her friend.
Jane’s greatest desire was to be a wife and mother. When Joseph was born weighing just over 2 pounds, she thought that might be taken from her again, but he grew and thrived and became the joy of When she met John and they were married in 2004, she felt all her dreams had finally come true. They had 9 wonderful years together.
She will be missed.
The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, RAYMOND STAKE CENTRE, 2N 200 W, Raymond, AB, with Bishop Brian Freeze officiating.
Friends may meet the family prior to the service only from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. at the church.
Interment to follow at the Nanton Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.
Donations in Jane’s honor may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Kidney Foundation of Canada, or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
It was Jane’s request, and due to severe allergies, a scent free service will be held and floral tributes are respectfully declined.

YARMOLOY, ALLISON JIMMY
December 26, 1939
August 16, 2013
A long and arduous journey came to an end when Al Yarmoloy, 73, slept peacefully blessed with tender care at the Auxiliary Hospital in Claresholm. He was predeceased by his son Quinn, parents Peter and Nadia, in-laws Adrian (Junior) and Magdaline (Puggie) Wintemute, brother-in-law Larry Wintemute and nephew Cameron Wintemute.
Al leaves a multitude of memories with his wife of 45 years, Daryl (Dianne), son Chad (Julie), grandsons Christopher Thomas and Quinn Yarmoloy, sister Gloria Canham and her family in Dallas, brothers-in-law Raymond Canham and Cam (Colleen) Wintemute, sisters-in-law Laurel Wintemute and LeeAnn Duce, as well as treasured uncles, aunts and cousins. He was especially fond of his nephews and nieces who reciprocated in kind to their ‘Uncle Hero’: Ryan (Kerri—Ryker) Trotter, Scott Wintemute,Tamara (Derek—Alex, Zach) Connick, Jennifer (Rob—Dylan, Josh) Wachtler, Michelle (Tyler Russell) Gibb, his special birthday girl, Marci (Wes—Kayla (McCauley Brown), Hayley, Jason, Janelle) Stockton, as well as many ‘on loan’ from a beautiful extended family.
Al was born in Mundare, Alberta and spent his youth on the family farm. He attended a one room school for three years, at which time the rural students were bussed to the Holden School where he excelled in academics as well as participating in a wide range of sports. During this time, he also played baseball with the Borschiw youth team. However, running was his forte, evidenced by his many first place ribbons for track events in the County of Beaver. One of his favorite memories occurred one day as he was fooling around at the U of A track; Harry Jerome approached and gave him some pointers on maintaining stamina until the end dash.
Al received his Bachelor of Education degree with honours from the U of A. His first teaching assignment was in the small town of Bruce where well-known cowboy, Ernie Dorin, introduced him to rodeo (as a spectator sport only!) and curling, which would become his life long passion.
From Bruce, he went to Wainwright where he taught for several years, acted as Vice-Principal, was president of the ATA local, coached basketball, track and field and, of course, curling. Gifted with a beautiful singing voice and a great sense of rhythm, he also enjoyed being the drummer in the band ‘Nahanni’.
Al’s career also took him to Acme and Tofield before moving to the Willow Creek Composite High School where he worked until retirement. Many teacher evaluations describe him as a ‘master teacher’. He was most pleased when two of his students scored marks of 100% on the Mathematics 31 provincial exam. Ever a stalwart supporter of public education, he was active in his professional association, holding Local Council positions for 30 terms, attending several ARAs and serving as Southwest Region Professional Development Consultant for nine years.
Settling in Claresholm where he was an affiliate member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #41 made him happy as he loved Southern Alberta. He also very much enjoyed coaching curling for many years, often taking rinks to provincial competitions with Leah and the donuts. It was during this time that he was offered a position with Curl Canada which would have involved relocation to the East but, being a prairie boy at heart, he simply couldn’t come to grips with that. Each winter, the household was filled with the sounds of “Sweep! Sweep!” as Al found immense pleasure in watching his ‘kids’ curl both nationally and internationally.
Although a modest person, ‘Big Al’ was an active, multi-talented and very hard working man who excelled not only in his career, but in a wealth of hobbies: hunting, wine and beer making, gourmet cooking, preparing huge breakfasts for his boys and their friends, sketching, baking (Christmas cakes, lemon meringue pie and buns being a mere few specialities), photography, bird feeding/counting, house plants, gardening, severe weather watching for Ottawa, caring for his ‘puppies’, dancing, walking, boating, camping and his absolute favorite—fishing. Preferring classical but appreciating all genres of music, Al never refused an opportunity to attend a concert. He loved to travel in Europe, Canada and the States where Easter trips to Reno provided a great deal of laughs. An avid reader of scientific journals and newspapers and ardent fan of CBC Radio, he was very passionate about politics, a discussion one entered at one’s own peril. In spite of all that, there were still a few free moments, so he and Tom embarked on a small business venture of procuring, sawing, and splitting logs to deliver as firewood.
Al had a quick wit and great sense of humor, frequently playing jokes on colleagues and family. Who could ever forget all the crazy cartoons at the CFRs? His honesty, friendliness, hospitality and generosity will be remembered. Delivering fresh rhubarb, apples and CNIB audio tapes to the Porcupine Hills Lodge plus a weekly trip to the Claresholm Food Bank with donations brought him great joy. Nothing made him happier than preparing ‘banquets’ in his home for guests (who often preordered their menu requests) or fish fries at his little piece of Eden, Gray Creek on Kootenay Lake where the family spent thirty wonderful summers and made many lasting friendships.
As we bid sad farewell to this amazing gentleman, the family wishes to express their most sincere gratitude to all who shared Al’s journey: Drs. Gish, Taylor, Monohaghn, Gotto, Ball, Burback, the entire staffs at the Lethbridge Regional, Rocky View, Claresholm General Hospitals, Claresholm Home Care Nurses, the Willow Creek Continuing Care Center, Lynn Heward, family, neighbors, friends and local businesses who have been so very kind and helpful throughout this trying time. We also wish to thank Morley and David at Leydens for their assistance and Diane of Alternatives for her guidance.
In lieu of flowers, we know Al would have appreciated donations to his favorite charity, the Claresholm Food Bank c/o Box 520, Claresholm AB T0L 0T0. Condolences may be forwarded to lady.dyarmoloy@shaw.ca.
