GSCHAID
Angelina “Angie” Gloria Gschaid passed away peacefully with her family at her side at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Centre on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at the age of 64 years.
Angie grew up in the Picture Butte area and received her education at St. Catherine’s School. She moved to Wilcox, Sask. where she graduated from the Notre Dame College in 1968.

Following her graduation, Angie travelled with her granny (“Bubie”) to Europe, where they had a memorable trip.
Upon her return from that trip, Angie entered SAIT in Calgary where she completed her LPN Training (Licensed Practical Nurse). She then worked at St. Michael’s Hospital on both surgical and medical units.
In June 1972 Angie married Ronald Gschaid and they together had two children Rodney James and Jennifer Renae.
Angie continued working in the different areas of nursing until 1978. She returned back to her studies and received her Registered Nurse Diploma in 1980 from the Lethbridge Community College. During the summer months she attended university gathering courses towards her nursing degree.
Angie’s “Bubie” was a very big part of her and her children’s life. They spent a lot of quality time together, both “loving each moment”. You would often hear Angie say “I miss my ‘Bubie’ so much”.
After receiving her R.N. degree, Angie continued working in the clinical and surgical areas, CSR (Central Processing Room), clinical nursing, homecare, and dialysis.
Angie also did Insurance Medicals for various companies in and out of the city. The agents would request her as again, her personality preceded her.
Another deep love Angie had was slow-pitch and she played for the hospital teams for several years. Golfing, skiing, and having a glass of wine with her friends brought her great joy, laughs and love.
Angie is survived by her two children; Rodney James Gschaid (Bobbie Geo) of Lethbridge and Jennifer Renae Marsh (Brad Hansen) of Lethbridge; Grandson Rylan James, granddaughter Madison Angelina; mother Olga Kleist of St. Albert, sister Sandra Bruinsma (Theo); several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
She was predeceased by her granny Mary Chervenka, Grandfather Walter Chervenka, stepfather Norman Kleist, father Tom Joss, as well as numerous other relatives.
The family would like to thank all the nurses, doctors and staff for all their care and compassion given to our mom, we truly appreciated all you did.

“In the journey of life you try to teach your children the importance of values, the difference between right and wrong and hopefully they can learn from the stumbles and falls we made.
In saying that we also learn from our children that is a caring treasure for each of us.
I’ve learned patience, love, hope, faith, and courage. And out of those came that feeling of “Proudness”.
They both have made me very proud of them and I’m sure that their dad would agree with me.
That alone is the most precious treasure that life can hold.”
Love Mom

In 1953, Bob became a Constable with the RCMP and was initially sent to Edmonton, AB for his first posting, then to Peace River, Fairview, McClennan, Grand Prairie, Slave Lake, and Faust. Doug was predeceased by his loving wife Esther Hagen in 1966 and son Dwain in 2005. He married Clara Urban in 1969.
He was born on his dad’s (George Strain) original homestead. Dad spent most of his farming life within 1/2 mile of the original homestead. Dad’s love for farming started at age 6 taking his first harvest for grandpa & 88 harvests in his lifetime. Doug bought his 1st. of many Ford trucks and started a trucking business, hauling everything from wheat, coal, livestock to potatoes to help support his family. He loved going to auction sales where the auctioneers would wait until he got there before they started.
Doug was an excellent dancer, travelling many miles across the country, knowing where all the best orchestras were playing. How family, neighbours and friends enjoyed the fun “dance parties” at home dancing to the wee hours of the morning. Even got a great picture of dad’s best friend Harold Street soaking his feet in the bathtub, because he danced so much.
Recently, the 100th anniversary of Foremost took place, where he was the honourary Parade Marshall riding in the old fashioned buggy being pulled by white horses wearing his dad’s wedding suit and black top hat from an auction sale.
He won many competitions in tractor pulling with WD-40. Dad and Clara travelled to Minot, North Dakota, Branson, Missouri, Caribbean & Alaskan cruises. Dad enjoyed his baseball coaching & managing for 33 years and curling. Dad and Clara enjoyed watching their grandchildren & great grandchildren in their sporting events. He will be missed by all.
