BOHNER
EMMA ANGELINA (ANGIE) BOHNER passed away peacefully surrounded by family members on Friday October 18, 2013 at 84 years of age. Angie was born in Raymond in 1928 to Henry and Emma Burr. She was the 4th of 10 children. When she was 10 years old the family moved from Raymond to a farm in the McNally district. When Angie was 27 she met a dashing young man at a community dance. In June 1955 she married her handsome beau Wilfred Bohner. They settled on a farm, just north of Coaldale, where she continued to live until recently. Angie and Wilf were blessed with 4 children, Lolette, Sandra, George, and Cliff. Angie loved motherhood and found great joy raising her family. She became a true farmers¹ wife, and enjoyed spending time outside. She was as comfortable driving a tractor as she was baking a fresh rhubarb pie. She was a very strong and independent woman. Angie loved life and enjoyed many interests. She loved gardening, singing, cooking, baking desserts, doing crafts, and helping her family. Angie also loved to travel.
She took holidays to Disneyland with her grandkids, Hawaii with her sisters and especially enjoyed a trip to Holland, to see the tulips. Fun times were spent in Waterton having family picnics, and appreciating nature. She stayed very close with all of her family and it was a highlight to get together with them on July 1st and Boxing Day each year. Angie was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in many different callings while in the Coaldale ward for 50+ years. She showed great faith and was an example to all who knew her. Angie found great joy in being around the children in her life. She relished her role as grandmother and great grandmother. Grandchildren were the light of her life, they made her day, and all were touched by her songs, stories, and hugs. She will be missed by all and adored forever. She was predeceased by her husband Wilfred, and their infant daughter Lolette. She is survived by her daughter Sandra (Leroy) Pavan, her sons George (Kim) Bohner, and Cliff (Katy) Bohner. Her 11 grandchildren: Alix (Tyler) Hirsche; Arin (Brian) Lathen; Aric (Micah) Pavan; Alison (Allan) Schneider; Alan (Britnee) Pavan; Andin (Kenzie) Pavan; Ariel (Rob) Olsen; Daine Bohner, (Mary); Brock Bohner; Greg Bohner, (Amanda); Corey Bohner, (Alison). EMMA DORRICOTT
JUNE 15, 1913 ~ OCTOBER 18, 2013
“You don¹t get to be 100 without being a tough Å’ole bird.”
It is with great sadness that the family of Emma Dorricott announces the end of an era with her passing late last week. Early in Emma¹s life she cooked for her brother, Martin, while he was at the farm in Arrowwood, Alberta. She left for California, USA with her parents and family and returned to Alberta with her brother and his family in 1938. Emma started work with the Canadian Pacific Railway as a cook in a travelling railway car for the different repair crews. It was while Emma was on an extra shift as a helper in High River that she met Walter (Wally) Dorricott. Emma quit her job in August 1942 and on September 4, 1942 married Wally Dorricott in Calgary. Later in 1942 Wally was transferred to a water pumping station in Manyberries where Emma joined him shortly after. Emma worked at the Red & White General Store and County General Store in Manyberries until Wally was transferred to Lethbridge in 1955. They bought a home in north Lethbridge and lived there until Wally¹s death in 1988. As a founding board member of the Lethbridge Senior Citizen Centre, Emma stayed active volunteering her time at the lottery booth and at Bingo¹s. Emma finally retired from working Bingo¹s when she was 94 but continued to play right up until the age 99. Even though her winnings weren¹t that great, she still enjoyed the atmosphere and the outing. Emma¹s mind was sharp with an amazing recall for details often telling stories of her life in Manyberries, sharing tips for cooking, discussing politics and sports. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610- 4 Street South, Lethbridge, AB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Search Dog Association http://www.canadiansearchdog.com or the Lethbridge Senior Citizen Organization http://www.lethseniors.com on her behalf.

FORSYTH
DIXIE JEAN FORSYTH passed away on Monday, October 21, 2013 in Raymond. Funeral arrangements will be announced when completed.

GENEVIEVE “JENNIE” EMERY
1911 ~ 2013
After celebrating her 102 birthday in August, Genevieve “Jennie” Marie Emery peacefully passed away on October 11, 2013 at the West Highland Centre on the west side of Lethbridge. Born in Eveleth Minnesota on August 14, 1911, Jennie received her early education in Colemen, Alberta and went to normal school in Calgary, allowing her to become a teacher. In the pioneering spirit, she rode by horse to a one-room school house in Todd Creek, north of Cowley, Alberta, the start of a longer journey of 41 years as a school teacher. Jennie married Fred Emery in 1936 and had one child, Joan Johnson. As a school teacher, now in Coaldale, Jennie raised Joan and taught at I. R. Baker school, starting in 1944. Studying in Edmonton at the University of Alberta over several summers, Jennie eventually received a BA degree in Education, with a focus on Special Education. She later founded the first Special Education class in the County of Lethbridge. An avid world traveler, her vacations took her to Europe, Australia, China, Russia and South America. Jennie¹s passion for travel combined with her love of Classical history influenced both her choice of destination and the souvenirs and gifts she brought back home. Towards the end of her teaching career Jennie, graced a variety of committees concerned with innovation in the field of education including the Reading Sub-Committee, involved with researching the merits of new readers. She was acting chairman for the 1973 74 school year for a Professional Development Committee, and was on the Further Education Council for 10 years, filling a variety of roles, including reporter, vice president and president. As a gifted amateur actress she was an important part of the Coaldale Little Theatre, which travelled twice to the nation-wide Dominion Drama Festival. Photos of her prizing winning roles are now archived at the Galt Museum in Lethbridge. Her artistic talents also included the composition of poetry, often on request, and sometimes of a more serious nature such as her poem “Prairie Wheat,” which was read on the occasion of her 100th birthday. She was fond of reciting sections of poetry up to her last birthday. Also a gifted ceramic painter, Jennie¹s beautiful hand-painted ceramic plates and vases grace the homes of many friends and family, and provide a wonderful memory of her talent and passion for life. She was president of the Arts and Crafts council for over a decade. Jennie was the co-founder with Dr. Neal Johnson, of the Joan Johnson Memorial Scholarship, established at the University of Lethbridge to assist promising Education students. She also contributed annually to the music program of the school named after her, Jennie Emery Elementary School (JEES), located in Coaldale, Alberta. Jennie is survived by her grandson, Mark Johnson and is predeceased by her daughter, Joan Johnson, her sister Louise and two brothers, Frank and George. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada and the United States. The family of Jennie Emery wishes to extend its heartfelt thanks to her medical caregivers and the well-wishers who tended her, visited her and buoyed her spirits. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the music program associated with Jennie Emery Elementary School or to the SOS Children¹s Villages (www.soschildrensvillages.ca) for under privileged children. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, October 25, 2013 at ST. MARTHA’S CATHOLIC CHURCH in West Lethbridge at 355 Columbia Blvd. Send condolences at http://www.mbfunerals.com.

RUSSELL MORRISON
1961 ~ 2013
Mr. Russell Raymond Morrison passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at the age of 51 years after a long battle with COPD. He is survived by his three children and their spouses Rick Thomas Morrison, Stacey Ann Morrison (Dallas Langworthy), Ken (Erika Morrison) and grandchild Alexis Morrison. He is also survived by his sister Connie Marie Morrison; brother in- law Gene Campbell; brother Norm David Morrison; sister in- law Myrna Morrison; and step mother Karen Morrison. He was predeceased by his parents Norman Dale Morrison and Doreen Mae Schweitzer and step father Jack Tiffin. Russell worked very hard on the family farm from a young age with his father Dale to build a sizeable business growing crops and tending livestock for most of his life until sale of the family farm took place in 2005. Russell also worked in construction and safety training for as long as his health permitted. Russell had an abundance of wit and a great sense of humor and always had the ability to make people laugh. Even in his final days he would always try to get a laugh out of family and care givers. In great suffering, when one of his care givers asked if there was anything she could do to ease his pain he requested not medication, rather the staff to sing him “soft kitty” from the TV show “big Bang Theory”. Russell took great enjoyment making jokes on the radio and loved to make his step mother Karen laugh on a routine basis during harvest. Russell often expressed great sadness for the loss of many relationships and made ex-tenuous efforts to ensure the wellbeing of friends and family in his final years. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Russell passed away in comfort with his family at his side. To respect the wishes of the family a private memorial will be held for Russell at a later date.
