ROBERT (BOB) BACH
AUGUST 23, 1920 ~
OCTOBER 24, 2013
Bob Bach, beloved husband of Mary Bach, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on October 24, 2013, at the age of 93 years.
Bob was born and raised in the Champion district, where he farmed for many years on the home place settled by his parents.
After his parents retired and moved to Calgary, Bob continued to farm, but usually spent several winter months in Calgary with his parents. While there, he met and later married Mary McLellan in 1965.
Bob and Mary continued to farm at Champion and were members of St. Mary’s Church. They retired and moved to Lethbridge in 1982. Soon after that, the new Catholic Parish of St. Martha’s was established and they became active members from the beginning. Once land was obtained to build the new church, Bob could be seen travelling with his ride-on mower from their home to the church site to keep the lot mowed until the church was built.
Bob and Mary enjoyed their retirement years, often visiting Mary’s family in Nova Scotia and enjoying many other family trips as well.
Due to age and failing health, in 2008, Bob and Mary moved to Senior’s Care Centres.
All those who knew Bob will remember him fondly as a good natured, gentle soul with a perpetual mischievous grin.
Besides his loving wife Mary, Bob is survived by one sister, Katherine Mullan of Calgary, one sister-in-law, Peggy Bach of Vulcan and several nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand nieces.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, Anthony and Regina Bach; three brothers, Leonard, Harold and Richard (Bud); and two sisters, Margaret Hunziger and Leona Gallagher.
A Prayer Vigil will be held at 5:00pm on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Friday, November 1, 2013 at ST. MARTHA’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 355 Columbia Blvd. West, Lethbridge. An interment will take place in the Champion Cemetery, located in Champion, Alberta.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert’s name to St. Martha’s Parish Building Fund, 355 Columbia Blvd. West, Lethbridge, AB T1K 5Y8 or to a charity of your choice.
