Little Footprints
How very softly
You tiptoed into my world.
Almost silently,
Only a moment you stayed.
But what an imprint
Your footprints have left
Upon my heart

JENSEN

WANDA BORCHERS JENSEN, wife of Grant Jensen, passed away in Cardston, Alberta on February 5, 2014 at the age of 94 years. Born August 22, 1919 in Callaway, Minnesota, Wanda was the 5th child and last daughter in a family of 10 children: 7 boys and 3 girls all born in Minnesota and came to Alberta as a family in 1930 when she was 11 years old. She took her schooling in Scandia, Edmonton, and the University of Lethbridge. She worked in Brooks while still at home during the winters and came back home to Scandia to help with farm work during the summer. She and her husband lived in various places since he was in the Services during the war. After the break-up of her marriage in 1953, she worked in various places in Lethbridge as a secretary – the Airport as a Log Book Clerk; a Real Estate and Insurance Office; CHEC Radio and Traffic Manager; Legal Secretary for Stringam, Steele and Denecky in their law office. She married Grant Jensen in 1964 in Lethbridge. (She was previously married to Logan Mclean and one son, Brian, was born to this union in 1948.) Wanda and Grant moved to Cardston where she worked as a secretary for Thomas Matkin and as a Librarian in the High School. Wanda was the 1st woman in Cardston to serve on the Cardston Town Council during the years 1971 – 1977. This was a most enjoyable and fulfilling volunteer undertaking. During her tenure, the 1st addition was added to the Chinook Lodge and the Villa was built. A tree planting program was also undertaken. Wanda was a very active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many varied callings. From 1983, she became involved in gathering family history on both her mother¹s and father¹s families with information obtained from the United States and Germany. This added up to many hours doing research and also entering all the information in the computer and having most of the ordinance work done in the Alberta Temple. A great deal of gratitude goes to relatives, friends, and Ward members in helping to accomplish this sacred work. The Funeral Service will be held in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Temple Street Chapel, Cardston, AB. on Wednesday, February 12th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Jeff Heggie officiating. Friends may meet the family at the Church from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the Service. Interment in the Cardston Cemetery. E-mail your condolences to: legacyfh@telus.net
