Cancer. She leaves behind to mourn her passing, her children, Ross Black Water Sr., Bernadette Oka,
Stanley Black Water, Delores (Jack) Den Hollander from Bow Island, and daughter-in-law, Agnes Black
Water. She provided a loving, nurturing and stable environment for the grandchildren whom she raised;
Bill (Shannon) Black Water, Seven (Kim) Quesnelle, Sheryl Black Water and Nikki Quesnelle. She was adored
and will be greatly missed by her grandchildren; Russ, Jody, Monica, Chickory, Jackie, DJ, Brooke,
Renata, Max, Coy, Kelly, Shannon, Annie, Terri, Mark, Robin, Toby, Jonathan, Hank, Gordie, Lydia, Holly,
Randall, Lindsey, 48 great-grandchildren and her adopted grandchildren; Christa McHugh, Jana, Kelly and
Chad Day Chief. She will be greatly missed by her sisters; Donalda Big Throat, Veronica (Ray) Brewer,
Christine Good Dagger, Linda (Darryl) Three Persons, one brother, Henry (Roxanne) Big Throat, sister-in-
law Elizabeth Big Throat, one brother-in-law, Tony (Lorna) Black Water and numerous relatives from the
Big Throat, Many Guns, Potts, Weasel Head, Spearson, Standing Alone, Day Rider, and Reevis families.
Theresa was born on June 22, 1937 to the late Harry and Clara Big Throat. She was raised on the Blood
Reserve and attended St Mary’s Residential School until she completed grade 8. In later years, Theresa
attended night classes to satisfy her requirements for her high school academics.
When Theresa finished school she adopted her future stepdaughter, Bernadette Oka who was two years old
and just released from the Charles Camsell Hospital in Edmonton. Theresa met and married her lifelong
love, Stanley Black Water Sr. on November 5, 1955. Together they ranched and farmed in Stand Off, St
Mary’s Dam and the north end of the Blood Reserve. Theresa chose her profession as a domestic homemaker.
She meticulously took care of her family and provided them with a secure and loving environment. She
extended her generosity to the many children of her siblings who required a temporary but comforting
refuge. She encouraged her children to strive for success and was the first one to support them through
all their endeavors. She extended that same warmth and encouragement to the rest of her vast extended
family.
Theresa believed in perfecting everything in her domestic life by excelling in her culinary skills,
keeping an immaculate home, and ensuring the multitudes of people that worked alongside Stanley on their
farm, got enough food and sustenance. Theresa’s hobbies included knitting, crocheting, sewing,
constructing bird houses, and tending a magnificent garden where she planted numerous plants and
vegetables. She sewed numerous quilts and clothing and knitted sweaters for her children, nieces and
nephews.
Theresa was steadfast in her faith and love for our Lord Jesus and the Blessed Mother. Theresa was a
devout Catholic and spent many hours meditating on her rosaries and prayers. She faithfully attended Mass
every Sunday and received the Holy Eucharist. She encouraged all her loved ones to lead exemplary
Christian lifestyles. She faithfully travelled to Lac Ste Anne with her husband, children, grandchildren,
and extended family on a yearly basis. Mom believed in the ultimate power of prayer, and never once
doubted the rewards of living a very humble and pious lifestyle. It was her faith in the Catholic Church
that led her to join the Catholic Women’s League alongside her mother Clara.
Theresa and Stanley loved to travel and together along with their daughters, travelled to many apparition
sites in Europe and Mexico, including Lourdes, Rome, Medjugorie, and Guadeloupe. She also travelled to
other parts of Europe such as Monte Carlo.

Brennan, Ernest Edmond
1927-2014
Ernest Edmond Brennan passed away peacefully, after a life well lived.
Ernie was predeceased in 1997 by Inez, his wife of 40 years, as well as his brothers Pat, Lennie, and
Gerald, and his brother in law Paul Hemmelgarn. He leaves behind Dwayne (wife Tammy, grandkids Shea,
Meghan and Kieran), Coleen (husband Scott, grandkids Marita and Julilla), and Doug (wife Joy, grandkids
Logan, Cameron, Jackson, and Carson). He is survived by his sisters Nora (Gene), Bernice, Shirley
(Norman) and Mildred, and his sister-in-laws Rose, Francis, and Mary.
Dad was born in Balmoral and spent his childhood on a farm outside of Stonewall, Manitoba. He became a
teacher and taught at several schools in southern Manitoba, including Eden, where he met Inez. Following
their marriage, Ernie worked for Parks Canada, first at Riding Mountain, in Manitoba, where their
children were born, and then Waterton Lakes in Alberta where they raised their family.
Ernie enjoyed an active outdoors lifestyle, hunting, fishing, hiking, snowmobiling, skiing and horseback
riding. Anything to help Doug avoid housework! Ernie served on the hospital and school boards, and as a
volunteer fire fighter and fire chief.
Retiring from Parks Canada, Ernie and Inez moved to Pincher Creek, travelling with extended family and
shuttling between grandkids. Dad bought and became devoted to his first two saddle horses – Red and
Goldie.
Following Inez’s passing, Dad’s desire for companionship was met through his special friendship with
Grace Fitzpatrick. They rode horses along Waterton trails, danced at Twin Butte and at the Hillcrest
Miner’s club, and travelled extensively to visit extended family. Dad and Grace enjoyed sampling menus in
locally owned restaurants. Consistent with his demanding demeanor, Dad was satisfied with nothing less
than a good “vanilla” ice cream to end the day.
For the past 5 years Ernie enjoyed the comfort of his own home, benefiting from the care of Tess first
and then Janice Lomitao, two sisters from the Philippines. When people weren’t visiting him at home, Tess
and Janice took Ernie to coffee gatherings, Pincher Creek events, and activities within their Filipino
community, including Karaoke.
A celebration of Ernie’s life will take place in early May. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations
may be made to the Pincher Creek Hospital, P.O. Box 2554, Picher Creek, AB T0K 1W0 or a charity of your
choice.

Keith Mervyn Belsher
Sept 25, 1953 – March 2, 2014
The family of Keith Belsher (#49) are sad to announce that Keith passed away March 2, 2014 in the High
River Hospital after a battle with cancer.
After marrying his childhood sweetheart Susan (Stitt) #120 in 1970, he jumped into the adventure of life.
Keith was an electrician in Lethbridge for 23 years, then became a Lighting Agent in Calgary until his
passing. Keith and Sue moved to their farm in 2011 near High River.
Keith will always be remembered as a man devoted to his family, a remarkable friend and a larger than
life guy with a keen sense of humor and a great drive for adventure. He could always be counted on for a
“Killer” joke or two or three. He loved nothing more than taking all of his Grandchildren camping and
doing whatever they wanted whether it was play at the park, fly kites, float rivers, drive jeeps, etc,
etc. Field tobogganing and road bowling were also favourite sports.
Keith will be joyously remembered by his wife of 43 years Sue. His son Shawn (#122) with his wife Maxine
(#439), and daughter Jody Waddle #140 with her husband Ken #306, will forever be grateful for the amazing
love of a dad they all cherished. His beloved grandchildren Shayne #289, Brooke #315, Elizabeth #321,
Emjay #431, Kimberly #329, Ashley #433, Jaxx #434 and Elijah #378 will never forget the pure joy they
shared with their adored Grampa.
Keith’s family, his Step-Mom Bev Belsher #128, sister Lorna Six #42 (Steve #142), sister Kathryn
Schnitzler #102 (Leo #366) and numerous nieces and nephews will never forget his amazing smile,
infectious laugh and incredible love of life.
Keith will be partying in Heaven with his father Merv, mother Edith, sister Gwen, brother in-law Leo
Dextrase and brother Bryon.
Keith was also very proud to be a part of the huge glorious Belsher family. Everyone in the family
proudly take a number upon entering the family with Grampa William being #1 and Gramma Maria #2 as of
January of this year the number has reached 451. We come together every 3 years to celebrate this legacy
of Family.
Instead of sending a pile of flowers, use that money to donate to the Twins Cancer Fundraising –
http://www.twinscancerfundraising.com/ . Keith was so proud of all ‘those boys’ have done for cancer that
he’d be honoured if people would support their cause.
The family will gather for a wake at a later date. To express condolences please visit
