ARMSWORTHY

LEWIS WALTER ³LOUIE² ARMSWORTHY our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away at the Cardston Hospital on March 13, 2014. Lewis was born in Aylesbury, Saskatchewan on July 5, 1930 and was the eldest son of Isabella and Covert Armsworthy. He was named after Isabella¹s brother Walter Fender who was living in Scotland at the time. Lewis met and fell in love with Erva Mae (Low) and married May 2, 1956 in Cardston and was happily married for 57 years. Lewis farmed and ranched in Southern Alberta for 20 years and then worked for the MD of Cardston for another 25 years eventually retiring there. He loved the land, working with animals and spent many hours helping those who knew him. Lewis was a member of the Cardston Legion participating as part of the honor guard for veterans, funerals and Remembrance Day commemorations. He loved hockey and baseball playing for many years with several community men¹s teams. Lewis will be remembered for his welcoming, warm smile, big hugs and hearty handshakes and always a kind word spoken and service rendered. He loved people and not a day went by without finding an opportunity to help someone in need wherever he went. Lewis is pre-deceased by his parents Isabella (Fender) and Covert Armsworthy and a grandson Christopher William Shing (1991). He is survived by his loving wife Erva Mae (Low), son Walter (Colette) Armsworthy, daughters Debbie (Lance) Olson and Audrey (Randy) Shing, 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Cardston Hospital and Lee Crest for the care and help received especially in the past few weeks and months. The Funeral Service will be held Monday, March 17, 2014 at 11am at the Cardston Alberta Stake Centre, 338 5th Ave. E. with Bishop Walter Armsworthy officiating.Friends may meet the family prior to the service from 10-10:45am at the Cardston East Stake Center. BETTY JEAN CHARLESWORTH

1945-2013

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Betty Jean ³BJ² Charlesworth (nee Marshall) beloved wife of Keith Charlesworth on July 20, 2013 at the age of 67 years.

Betty Jean was born in Taber on September 28, 1945 to Dr. Maurice and Betty Marshall. The second of six children, she completed her schooling at LCI and then went to Henderson Business School. From there she tavelled to Calgary to work for several years. It was during this time that daughter Nikki was born.

She returned to Lethbridge and worked at the El Rancho Hotel. During this time she met chef Keith Charlesworth. They were married on February 16, 1980.

As a teen she spent countless hours riding her horse ³King² at the ranch near Lundbreck. She developed a keen interest in solving crossword puzzles and assembling jigsaw puzzles with her Mom. Summer holdiays were usually spent at the family cabin at Rosen Lake in the East Kootenays of BC.

There was nothing BJ enjoyed more than holidays around the dining room table, amidst the chaos of too many cooks in the kitchen and playing cards with her parents and siblings. Cribbage and Hearts were two of her favorites

BJ was predeceased by parents Maurice and Betty Marshall. Left to mourn are her husband Keith, daughter Nikki Marshall (Tarek Zahabi), and grandchildren Justin, Jordan, Brandon, Taylor, Travis, Brandi and Aayan. She also leaves four brothers James (Cathy), Robert (Joan), Allan (Ruth), Donald, and one sister Patricia (Donald) Robb.There was no service at BJ¹s request.

 

 

 

 

BULLCHILD

MARY JENINE BULLCHILD passed away at Edmonton after a valiant effort for life on Friday, March 7th, 2014.

The Funeral Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 ­ Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Monday, March 17th, 2014 at 11:00 A.M., with Reverend Christine Littlebear officiating.

 

 

 

DUDLEY, AGNES

1930 – 2014

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Agnes near her winter home in Rincon De Guayabitos, Mexico on Sunday, February 16, 2014.

Agnes is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Dennis and his children, Jane, John Paul, Janet and their families.

Missing her dearly are her sisters Marie Smith and Rose Chrupka as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

She is now reunited with her parents, Michael, Maria and brother Frank Bilcik and sisters Arnie Kemmet and Helen Mikula.

Agnes owned Imperial Jewellers in downtown Lethbridge where many of her customers became lifetime friends. After retiring Agnes and Dennis spent their summers in Lethbridge and winters in Rincon where they have been going for more than 30 years.

Agnes was a carefree spirit with an infectious laugh who would always brighten your day.

One thing you would never find her without was a good book and her journal in which she would faithfully record her activities of the day.

She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

Friends and family held a celebration of her life at their home in Rincon.

 

 

 

ERNIE HOUSLEY

1920 ~ 2014

Ernie Housley of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Betty Housley of 67 years, passed away at home on Monday, March 10, 2014 at the age of 93 years.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 7:00pm and 8:00pm, on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge.

VICTORIA GAYLE OLBERG HUNSPERGER 1949~2014, of Glenwood and Cardston and beloved wife of the late Werner Hunsperger, passed away suddenly on Tuesday March 11th, 2014.

Vickie was born in Vancouver, British Columbia on August 28th, 1949. She spent her youth moving around Northern Alberta and eventually moved to Southern Alberta where she put down her roots. Her joy in life was always her family and especially her grandchildren. When she wasn¹t spending time with her family, she was busy serving others. Vickie will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Temple Street Chapel, Cardston, Alberta on Tuesday, March 18th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.

Friends may meet the family at the Church from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the Service. Interment in the Cardston Cemetery.

LANHAM

Mrs. Stephanie Louise Lanham, beloved wife of the late Mr. William Ernest Lanham, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Wednesday, March 12th, 2014 at the age of 89 years.

She is lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Anita and Monica Lanham, granddaughters, Kayla and Kelsey Lanham as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and Belgium.

Mom was born in Heist-Op-Den-Berg, Belgium on May 1st, 1924 to Josephine and Alois Nauwelaerts. She grew up with five loving and caring brothers. On December 24th, 1945, Mom wed William at the end of the Second World War and came to Calgary as a war bride. Together they were blessed with two lovely daughters and later two incredible granddaughters. Mom was a devoted caregiver who loved everything about being a wife and mother. She always put her family first and brought joy to every day she was with us. Mom will always be remembered for her gentle heart, her love of home, her love of dogs and all animals and her sense of duty to her family. Mom, we cannot put into words our sense of loss, but we know you are in a better place and little Sassy watches the geese for you as they fly by daily.

A Funeral Service will be held at ST. AUGUSTINE’S ANGLICAN CHURCH, 411 – 11th Street South, Lethbridge on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 11:30 A.M. with Canon James P. Robinson officiating.

MARY “ELAINE” CAIRNS

1953 ~ 2014

Mary “Elaine” Cairns of Lethbridge, beloved wife of Steven, passed away on March 10, 2014 at the age of 60 years.

Elaine was born on October 3, 1953 in Sudbury, Ontario to Oscar Derouin and Marie (Barbeau) Derouin. She loved exploring the old mine sites in the Sudbury Basin where she grew up. When she moved west, she continued to search out and explore old mines.

Elaine was a very quiet and reserved person. However, when an issue was important to her, she presented a very strong, well researched point of view. We could count on her to listen carefully and research thoroughly. One of her many jobs was writing the feature article for the Lethbridge Shopper. She had planned to write a biography of her beloved cats. Elaine¹s life can be summarized in the words of Edward Kennedy “The work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives and the dreams shall never die”.

Besides her loving husband Steven Cairns, Elaine is survived by her daughter Natalie Cairns.

Elaine was predeceased by her parents Oscar Derouin and Marie (Barbeau) Derouin.

POCH

HOLLY GAYLE POCH, of Lethbridge, passed away at home on March 9, 2014. She lived a full life in Lethbridge.

She was born to Lynne Poch and Sylvian Poch (deceased). A brother followed, Bradley Poch.

She was always full of life, happy in school, and later in life in jobs in many areas.

She married and had two children, Paige Fowler (deceased) and Shawn Fowler. She raised a family while pursuing a career in banking at the CIBC for over 30 years. Her two grandchildren, Savannah and Trey were the joy of her life. She always had a large heart and loved to be around people. She will be missed by family and friends.

A Celebration of Holly & her daughter Paige’s lives will be held at a later date.

A trust account has been established in the grandchildren’s name at the CIBC

main Branch, 701 – 4th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 4A5.

RUTSCHMANN, Judy Lynn (nee Aitchison)

1964 – 2014

It is with the deepest sadness the family and friends of Judy must say goodbye. On February 13, Judy suffered an extensive stroke while vacationing in Jamaica and later passed away at the Calgary Foothills Hospital on March 7, 2014 at the age of 49 years. Left behind to mourn Judy¹s loss are her children, Trevor (Melody) and Terynn; sister, Lori Noble (Brian); and companion, Eric Brooks. Judy is also survived by several loving uncles, aunts and cousins. Judy was predeceased by her parents, Neil and Shirley Aitchison; and her paternal and materal grandparents. Judy was born on August 21, 1964 in Lethbridge, Alberta, she graduated from Winston Churchill High School and the Lethbridge Community College with an Early Childhood Education Certificate. In her youth, Judy excelled at sports such as gymnastics, track & field and volleyball. Judy loved travelling to warm destinations such as Florida and Mexico with her children and sister; then later to Jamaica with Eric. Judy moved to Airdrie in 1991, and persued her career in Early Childhood Education working for Airdrie Family Services/ Community Links. There she quickly developed a wonderful extended family who affectionately remember Judy as a practical jokester and the person to always plan special events and surprise birthday celebrations for her colleagues. Judy was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2002 and the last few years, she began to struggle with its physical challenges. A private family Celebration of Judy¹s Life will he held.
