HEAVY RUNNER-GOOD RIDER
LYLE FREEMAN HEAVY RUNNER-GOOD RIDER passed away in Cardston on April 25th, 2014 at the age of 32 years.
He is survived by his wife Misty Little bear; children Kas, Debbie, and Miley; parents Marlene Heavy
Runner and Tom Good Rider; brothers Cameron (Joni), Nathan (Junitia), Gage (Kylie); many nieces and
nephews; deceased grandparents Frank & Margaret Good Rider and Lester & Grace Heavy Runner.
Lyle made everyone laugh, everywhere he went. He also made many friends, throughout his 32 years of life.
During his life, he loved fishing, hunting, and enjoying his backyard (the prairie). Catching fish and
feeding them to his nephews who would only eat his fish.
He grew up with his brothers Nathan, Cameron and Gage because they were close, just doing what kids do;
brothers that watched each other through good and bad times. He learned how to Box from his uncles Les
and Wes who were great Boxers.
He grew up east of Cardston and Moses Lake just on the border of our reserve. He taught himself how to
break horses cause that was his childhood dream. He bought horses, and did what he needed to raise them
with the help of good friends. He also learned carpentry from his grandfather Frank and dad, which proved
to be useful in building his corral and barn.
Lyle attended school in Cardston, and at St. Mary’s on the reserve. He continued on to RCCC on the
reserve to where he presently was enrolled at RCCC in Lethbridge. He would’ve completed his program in
June 2014. His classmates over his lifetime will greatly miss his personality.
One trip to Fresno California with Monte, and Mason Wolf Child was a very cherished memory. Bragging to
his brothers how he spent time, in the same place as 2 PAC, and also that he couldn’t return to the State
of California without Arnold’s approval. He would always laugh as he told this story.
He loved his family very much including his kids, parents, grandparents, brothers, nieces, nephews,
uncles, aunties, and numerous cousins. He would always find time to visit when he could. His laughter and
jokes echo in our memories from all the times each of us had visiting with Lyle.
During his life he cared for his Grandparents alongside his brothers, where he began to understand the
Blackfoot language more and more.
A Wake Service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Blood Reserve on Monday, May 5th from 7:00 to
11:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Blood Reserve on Tuesday, May
6th at 11:00 a.m.. Interment in the Family Cemetery.
