KONS
PHYLLIS ANNE (NELSON) KONS, born on April 14, 1933 in Lethbridge AB., ended her journey
on Monday, January 19, 2015, at the age of 82, with those she loved, beside her.
Phyllis was the beloved blond haired, blue eyed daughter to the late Kelly Nelson,
Margaret Minor and the step-daughter of the late John Minor.
Our mom spent much of her youth in Lethbridge, being raised partly by her adored
“Auntie” Laura E. Lucas, who established a millinery shop on 13th St. North. Phyllis
eventually left Lethbridge and had a family of her own, returning in 1988.
Our mother was a caring, talented and creative woman who put much love and enjoyment
into knitting blankets and making beautiful needlepoint pictures that will be cherished
by her family for years to come.
Phyllis later took residency at Legacy Lodge where her smile and sharp wit made her
many friends. The staff, residents and the well-loved Therapy Dog “Lucy”, soon became
like family to our mother. In the years to follow, our brother James became a key
source of amusement, companionship and support for our mom. We are truly thankful to
James for that.
Our family takes great comfort knowing she was greeted in Heaven with open arms by the
loved ones who passed before her; her infant daughter Mary Kons, her grown sons Kelly
Kons and Ronald Kons, her sister Joyce Filatoff, as well as her seventh grandchild,
Aaron Thacker.
Left to mourn with great sadness, are her children; Dana, Anne Marie (Bill), David,
James, Marnie (Ray), her twin sister Lenore and youngest sister Carol (Whit). She will
be missed by her 12 grandchildren; Adam, Mason, Robert, Shawn, Michael, Sara,
Jacqueline, Stephanie, Brandon, Kaitlin, Alexis and Mikayla, seven great-grandbabies
and her nephews, nieces and cousins.
Her sense of humour, love of animals and “gift to gab” will live in our hearts forever.
We were blessed to have known her, learned from her and love her.
Phyllis is now at peace in her forever home.
