ELDON DAHL
1936 – 2015
Eldon Arnold Dahl, beloved husband and father to his wife Rita and six children, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the age of 78 years. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 – 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, February 13, 2015 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. The Funeral Service will be held at Knox United Church, 4929 – 50 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. Burial to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden. Condolences may be forwarded by visiting our website at http://www.southlandfuneral.com Eldon was born in Kelvington, Saskatchewan and lived in Medicine Hat, Calgary and Edmonton before moving to Taber in 1973. He was employed by Robinson Agencies beginning in 1973, then South Country before his retirment from Western Financial in 2004. Eldon is the third of six sons born to Hans and Erma Dahl to pass, leaving behind his three brothers Clifford (Colleen) Dahl of Las Vegas, Nevada, Allan (Lydia) Dahl of Calgary and Larry Dahl of Burnaby, British Columbia. Eldon himself was a father to three sons and three daughters. Aside from two sons Eldon Dahl Jr. and Elliott Dahl who predeceased him, he is survived by daughter Cathy Barber of Milton, Delaware, daughter Jane (Kevin) Wallace of Hinton, son Ellory Dahl of Taber and Tamara Dahl of Vancouver, British Columbia. He was also blessed with six grandchildren and three and a half great grandchildren. Eldon enjoyed many active years in this community and in his earlier years, served many groups, organizations and charities. Frances Elaine Lyon of Lethbridge passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Edith Cavell Care Center following her courageous and inspiring battle with ALS. JACOB SIEMENS
1925 ~ 2015
Mr. Jacob Siemens of Coaldale, beloved husband of Mrs. Regina Siemens passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at the age of 89, Jacob is now with his Lord and Savior.
Jacob was born in Lost River, SK on March 2, 1925. He worked for the County of Lethbridge for over 25 years, mainly as a road grader operator. He also worked as a maintenance man at the Campbell Clinic in Coaldale. Jacob did a lot of handyman work, including rototilling for many years. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. Jacob was predeceased by his first wife Amanda; his parents Johan & Susan Siemens; his six siblings Margaret Reimer, Elizabeth Unger, John Siemens, Susan Caleo, Helen Buhler and Mary Kroeker; 2 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild. He leaves behind his loving wife Regina, his eight children Robert Siemens, Judith Siemens, Harold (Marilyn) Huckaby, Deloris (Jim) Doolittle, Faye (David) Salter, Gordon (Stacey) Huckaby, Bill (Beverley) Huckaby, Connie (Don) Brown; four sisters Agnes Martens, Tina “Kay” Siemens, Ann Winters and Justina; 23 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren. A Visitation will be held from 7:00pm ­ 8:00pm on Friday, February 13, 2015 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 St. S., Lethbridge, AB. KADONAGA
MR. MINORU S. KADONAGA, of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Saturday, February 7th, 2015 at the age of 90 years. Minoru is lovingly remembered by his two children, Karen Hooper (John Kiefuik) of Lethbridge and Sharon (Darrell) Beddome of Jaffray, B.C., grandchildren James (Caraley) Hooper, Stacey (Nathan Silsbe) Hooper, Darrell (Amanda) Beddome, Darren (Kristi Broccolo) Beddome, Candice (Richard) Bennett and Chris (Alisa) Beddome, as well as twelve great-grandchildren, step-daughter Ada Red Crow and step-son Clarence Red Crow and sister Peggy (Hiroshi) Kitagawa, as well as many nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his spouse Ada Kadonaga on June 6, 2004 as well as three brothers and three sisters. Born July 17, 1924 son of Toru and Some Kadonaga. He was born and raised on Mayne Island, BC where his family remained until 1942.. At this time they were moved to the Magrath area to work a Sugar Beet Farm. Min met Ada and raised two daughters. He worked as a Sawyer in various locations in B.C. They settled in the Creston area where they built their home and worked a small orchard. When he wasn¹t working his favorite past-time was fishing, a passion he passed on to his grandchildren. On his retirement they moved to Lethbridge to be close to Karen and Sharon and their families. He loved to watch his grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports and spend time with his family. A Memorial Service will be held at CORNERESTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. with Deacon Frank Peta officiating.

LEON FRANK “SMOKEY” APPLEBY
1935 – ­ 2015
It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather. Smokey was born in Regina, Sask and raised in Victoria, B.C. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served honourably for 25 years in Greenwood, Summerside, Germany, Cold Lake and Comox. He held the rank of Sergeant. Upon his retirement, the family moved to Calgary, where he took up plumbing and gas fitting and is a member of Local 496 Calgary Plumbers and Fitters Union. In 1993 Smokey and Elaine purchased acreage in the MD of Pincher Creek. He loved to camp, fish,hunt and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was a member of the Escapees, Pincher Mountaineers and a lifetime member of the Good Sam Club. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Elaine; son, Peter; daughter, Selina (Dan) Priebe; grandsons, Lance and Lukas Priebe; sister, Barbara (Keith); uncle, Brian (Maxine); and numerous nieces and nephews. Smokey was predeceased by his parents Geoffrey and Nellie; brother, Jim and sister, Wyneja.
A celebration of Smokey¹s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Calgary Centennial Branch 285 (9202 Horton Road SW, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 11 am. Memorial donations in Smokey¹s name may be made directly to the Windy Slopes Health Foundation (P.O. REMPEL
MARLENE ANN REMPEL of Raymond passed away peacefully at the Raymond Hospital on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the age of 66 years. She is survived by her mother, Ilene Rempel, brother Terry, sister Darlene and close and dear friend Candace Clendenning. Marlene also leaves behind 32 Œgreat¹ nieces and nephews. She always put her heart and soul in any pursuit that she undertook. She especially enjoyed her career as a teacher and coach and was an avid traveller, family history buff, reader and crafter. In earlier years she enjoyed synchronized swimming, volleyball, basketball and softball. In recent years Marlene has positively and courageously faced numerous health issues. She will be long remembered for her kindness and generosity. The funeral will take place at the TAYLOR STREET CHAPEL of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Raymond starting at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 14, 2015. Friends and neighbours may meet the family between 10:00 am and 10:45am prior to the funeral service. Bishop Greg Smith officiating. STANLEY JOHN POPSON
1936 ~ 2015
The wonderful and generous Stan Popson of Lethbridge, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away at home on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the age of 78 years. Stan was born on the family homestead in West Lethbridge on March 4, 1936 to the late Steve and Sophie Popson. He attended Coalhurst School. He hired on with the Lethbridge Brewery in 1957 in the bottle shop and went on to become a Millwright until his retirement 1990. Stan will forever be remembered for his unconditional love and kindness, workmanship, witty sense of humor and for always having and open door policy for anyone who needed it. Stan will be lovingly remembered by his children Cheryl Marchuk, Dorothy (Bruce) Popson, Janis (Rob) Overn, Darren Popson and their mother Loretta; grandchildren Jeff Popson, Josh (Char) Marchuk, Brett Marchuk, Holly (Jerrod) Verhaest, Bobbi (Justin) Zuccatto, and Bo Popson; great-grandchildren Felix Popson and Jadie Zuccatto; sisters Annie Stoakley and Helen (Jim) Betts; brother Frank (Pat) Popson; sister-in-law Stella Popson; special nephews, nieces, and their families; as well as numerous special friends and caring neighbours. He was predeceased by his beloved D.O.G, brothers Mike (Marie) Popson, Steve Popson, sister Kaite (Les) Rittenhouse, brother-in-law Jim Stoakley and his grandson Tyson Marchuk.
