1916 – 2015
VILMA CHIZMAZIA, beloved wife of the late James Chizmazia, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at her home, with family by her side. Vilma was predeceased by her husband James, infant son Donald, son Ronald, all her brothers (Charlie, Joe, John, Andrew and Julius), and her sisters Beth and Marian. She is survived by her children Beatrice, Eileen, P.J. and Jamie, 10 grandchildren, 18 great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins, and her sister-in-law Mary Kaszas. Her good neighbors Matthew and Christine Lui, Harry and Ellen Wong, Ken and Cathy Gejdos and Allan and Justin Jarvie, always helped her. A Celebration of Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. DEMAS, Presley Evelyn
July 19, 2012 ­ February 16, 2015
In the wee morning hours of Monday, February 16, 2015, with her loving father at her side and comfortably in the arms of her loving mother, Presley Evelyn Demas was peacefully returned to her kind and loving Heavenly Father. She was two and one-half years old. Presley was full of life and energy and brought love and joy and a ray of sunshine to all those that knew her. She will be dearly missed. She leaves behind her devoted mother, Courtney Mayowski, and her dedicated father, Nick Demas, both of whom loved and cherished Presley deeply throughout her short time on this earth. Her parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and other family members and friends mourn for her but are comforted in the knowledge that she is now being watched over by angels and administered to by Christ the Lord in whose presence she will dwell forever. A graveside ceremony will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Cavell Cemetery near Chipman, Alberta which will include a release of purple, pink and white helium filled balloons. Those attending are asked to bring their own balloon in one of the requested colours. A celebration of Presley¹s life will follow at the Moyer Recreation Centre in Josephburg, Alberta. In lieu of flowers the family invites those interested to make a donation in Presley¹s name at any branch of the ATB Financial.

Mrs. June Allen of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Jack Allen, passed away on February 13, 2015 at the age of 80 years. June was a loving daughter, sister and mother who dedicated every moment of her life caring for the people in her family. She was an independent woman, a proud homemaker, a wonderful cook, an expert gardener, and a huge Elvis Presley fan. June and her husband Jack had a long rich life together that included dancing, music, home, family, and love. June is survived by her sons Ward Allen and Lee (Sharon) Allen; her grandchildren Cheraya, Troy (Shelby) & Dwight; her sister Judy and brother Alvin.
She was predeceased by her parents William & Doris Bolokoski, her husband Jack, brother Ervin, and her daughter Paddy. June¹s passing has left a hole in the hearts and lives of her family and friends.

Mrs. Linnea (Bowen) Barnett of Del Bonita, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at the age of 93 years. Linnea was born on June 22, 1921 in Beresford, South Dakota, the oldest daughter of Axel and Helga Johnson. She moved to Canada in 1930 where she lived in Raley, AB until 1932. Her dad then homesteaded in the Ross Lake area and she attended school there until grade 9. In 1943 she married Latham Bowen and in 1951 they moved to the family farm in Del Bonita. She is survived by her five daughters Ann (Lawrence, deceased) Kanig and children Bridgette Donovan, Steven (Celia) Donovan, Derrick (Laurie) Donovan, Drew (Muriel) Donovan, Melinda (Joe) Mastel; Marlene Bowen (Ken) and child Donna (Fenton) Neufeld; Pat (Larry) Wilde and children Ryan (Amy) Wilde, Lamar (Crystal) Wilde, Lindsay (Brian) Prete, Douglas (Kris) Wilde, Duane (Jenna) Wilde; Pam (Ernie) Schellenberg and child Brandi (Harald) Doeving; Carrie (Rod) Wilson; thirty-four great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband Latham Bowen, second husband Durward Barnett, brother Roy Johnson; two sisters Madeline Dunlop and Joyce Hoyt. Richard Dick Thunder Chief (Day Chief) of the Blood Indian Reserve, beloved husband of Geraldine Thunder Chief, was called home to the creator surrounded by his family and friends on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at the age of 70 years. Richard leaves to mourn his loving wife and best friend of 49 years, Geraldine, and their children Ron (Kelly), Rich Jr. (Gail) and Lorna; Grandchildren Kalib (Jade), Chet, Drayton, Nakoda, Kyanni, Mackenzie, Hunter, Taylor, Royce and Skye (Wilfred); his only Great Grandson “Baby Ricky;” Adopted children include: Karen, Harley, Stephanie, Tessie, Marvin, Christie, Cynthia, Caroline and Marlon Young Pine, Verna Delany, Dallas Houghton, Chickory Black Water and Jana Day Chief; adopted Grandchildren Whitney, Larmer and Dryden; Brothers Evans (Patty), Ivan (Juanita), Horace (Dolly), Sheldon and sisters Gloria, Dorothy, Theda (Floyd) and Carol (Natashia); “Special Brothers” Harrison Shade, Harrison Wolfchild, Tom Crane Bear, Gilbert Provost and “Best Man,” Del Healy Sr. as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. Richard attended the St. Mary¹s Residential School, returning home to work along side his dad tending to his horses and cattle. He was proud of this father Dick who was a major influence in his life, crediting him with instilling strong work ethic and ideals of family, generosity and trust. Richard joined his father at many hand game tournaments and rodeos where Dick entered into calf roping, which lead him to his passion for the rodeo, entering many events which included saddle bronc, steer wrestling, team roping and calf roping. In 1965 while on the rodeo trail traveling with his “best man” Del Healy Sr., Richard met up with his soon-to-be wife Geraldine Provost, it was “love at first site!” On December 18, 1966 they married and welcomed two sons Ronnie and Richard Jr. and daughter Lorna. With the strong work ethic instilled in him by his dad, Richard provided for his new family and ensured they never went without. He travelled for work moving to several area towns, including Fort Macleod, Cowley, Lethbridge and Yakima, Washington. Richard and his family eventually moved back home to the Blood Reserve and into their new home in1975. Shortly after moving into their new home, Richard purchased his first herd of cattle running his own cattle operation and returned to his love of rodeo he involving his entire family; he loved to watch them compete. Rodeo took both him and his wife to Reno, Nevada to compete in the Sr. Pro Rodeo Association Finals, Richard in Calf Roping, Geraldine in Barrel Racing and both in Ribbon Roping. Richard never forgot where he came from, he danced in the Men¹s Buckskin competition and was joined by his wife Geraldine in the Women¹s Traditonal at many powwows, he sat with the with the Old Agency Drum Groups and the White Feathers Drum Group consisting of his brothers and sisters, composed many songs and actively practiced the “traditional ways.” Richard was proud to serve the Blood Tribe membership in many capacities; grader operators with the Blood Tribe Public Works, an EMT and firefighter with the Blood Tribe Protection Services and as an elected Blood Tribe Councillor. In 1990 Richard became an entrepreneur launching “Triple R Trucking” and was a founding partner and Vice President of the Blood Tribe Truckers Association, negotiating various contracts for the Blood Reserve truckers. In 2010, Richard accepted an appointed to the Blood Tribe Police Commission. Richard passed onto his family the same strong work ethic and values passed onto him, both he and his wife remained actively involved in their children lives supporting them in their careers, endeavours and success. Richard loved his grandchildren, he was their teacher, their supporter, their biggest fan, but most of all, their “Grandpa!” Regardless of the many accolades and championships won Richard never lost who he was, he will be remembered by his quick wit, sense of humour and unconditional friendship. Richard was predeceased by his parents, Dick and Annie Day Chief, brothers Calvin and Darren and sister Noella. A Wake Service will be held at 7:00 pm on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at GLADSTONE HALL, Blood Reserve, AB. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 23, 2015 at ST. Adele was born in Kurudschika, Romania on February 18, 1931. Along with two of her sisters, she immigrated to Canada from Germany in 1950 to join their brother in Taber. That very same year, she met and married the love of her life, Stan Reamsbottom and started their family together. Adele was a devoted wife and mother and loved visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
