CHABAY
1923-2015
It is with heavy hearts and also with thanks for a long and healthy life, the family of IRENE CHABAY announce her passing after a brief stay at the Chinook Regional Hospital and St. Michaels Palliative Care Centre from complications following a number of heart attacks at the age of 91. Irene was born July 7, 1923 in Tiszaadony, Bereg County, Hungary. She immigrated to Canada in early February, 1940 at the age of sixteen, after a horrific thirty-two day journey through Southern Europe with her younger sister Jolane.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of thirty-eight years Joseph Chabay, on February 28, 1981. Irene was also deceased by her parents Bill and Rosalie Nagy, sister and brother -in-law Bill Csabay, sister-in-law Irene Calcutt and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews in Canada, United States and Hungary. Irene is survived by her four children, James Csabay, (Marlies) and family, Priscilla Melby (Palmer) and family, Danny Chabay (Liane Fox), Janet McKillop (Laird) and family, ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She had a great love of flowers and country living and was very independent until very recently. Irene loved to travel and during her lifetime saw a great deal of the world, either by car, bus, plane or cruise ship. She never left home without her hair just so, dressed to the nines and every trip, even just into town, was an adventure.

She enjoyed going to events put on by these various groups. Cremation at her request. A Memorial Service will be held at ST. MABEL JORDAN
1920 ~ 2015
Mabel (Vaage) Jordan of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Bernard Jordan, passed away on March 2, 2015 at the age of 94 years. Together Mabel and Bernard raised their four children, Reg, Wendy, Trudy and Randy at their home where friends and family were always welcome. Born on August 13, 1920 in Norway, she was proud of her Norwegian heritage but was especially proud of being a Canadian and an Albertan, loving the brilliant sunshine, blue sky and wind-swept prairie of southern Alberta. Mom always led an active life and could be seen moving at a brisk pace along sidewalks and through corridors. Her life was full of love and laughter, conversation and spirited discussion. A hard worker, devoted to family and friends, she had a strong social conscience and worked for the betterment of others less fortunate. The lessons we learned from Mom are about the value of hard work, honesty, strength, compassion and obligation; the wisdom of moderation and occasional intemperance; as well as dedication to family and society. She demonstrated the importance of humor along with the values of thrift and generosity. For these things among many, many others we are very grateful to Mom and she will be forever remembered and missed. She was preceded by her husband, Bernard in 1991, close friend Trev Ianson in 2008, daughter-in-law, Judy Jordan in 1997, and siblings Agnes, Edna, Alfred and Erling. Mabel is lovingly remembered by her family Reg and Ann of Markham, Ontario, Wendy and Remie Benoit of Lethbridge, Trudy and Kent Douglas of Vancouver and Randy and Carla of Morinville, Alberta; grandchildren, Darren and Becki of Taipei, Taiwan, Kelly and Jude of Toronto, Tyler and Isabel of Squamish, Ryan and Mayté of Markham; great grandchildren, Chloe, Eli, Jeremy, Zack, Evie, Emma Mabel, Zoe and Erik. Also close were Andy and Aimée Benoit of Lethbridge and their children Nicolas, Dominic and Julien. Thank you to the staff at Edith Cavell Care Centre, WE Care/Greystoke, Dr. Yamashita and Dr. Majiet for the care given and a special thanks to Sue Spencer for her visits, laughter, stories and support. They are special people. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 10:00 am at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610- 4 Street South. Lethbridge, AB. Art Robertson
1928 – 2015
Arthur Baird Robertson, beloved husband of the late Hellen Robertson, passed away at Bow Island Health Centre on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the age of 86 years. Art is survived by two sons Harvey (Marg) Robertson of Lethbridge and their children Brianne (Brian) Dand of Red Deer (their children Riley, Carter and Brodie), Mandy (Patrick) Foster of Squamish, British Columbia and Stacey (Cole) Goodwin of Red Deer; Bruce (Carla) Robertson of Bow Island and their sons Colin (Tara) Robertson (their children Aubrey and Rhett) and Kyle (Karmyn) Robertson (their son Landon) all of Bow Island. He is also survived by his sister Margaret Tyler, brother Andy (Agnes) Robertson; sisters-in-law Anne Robertson, Margaret Ryall, Betty Sjoquist and Cathryn (Pat) Desjarlais; brother-in-law Tom (Amy) Dey and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Hellen in 2011; mother Isabella Robertson; father and step-mother Warrender H. and Jean Robertson; brothers John, Warrender, Kenny and Larry (Jennifer) Robertson; Hellen¹s parents William and Florence Dey and brothers-in-law Max Tyler, George (Shirley) Dey, Charles Ryall and Albin Sjoquist. Art was born April 27, 1928 in Calgary, the fourth of seven children. His father¹s work with Calgary Power took them to Seebe, Alberta. After his schooling, Art followed his father and brother and began working for Calgary Power as a lineman. He met Hellen in Banff in 1948 and they married November 12, 1951. They settled in Innisfail where their two sons, Harvey and Bruce were born. After sixteen years, a management position brought them to Bow Island in 1967. Art served as manager of the Bow Island and District Office until he retired in 1984. They enjoyed many camping trips with family and friends during the summer months and following retirement, they spent nine winters in Arizona.
Art was a man of many talents. Many hours were spent rebuilding cars, building houses, gardening and wood working. He was a member of the Bow Island Lion¹s Club, the Elks and the Golden Age Club.
Family was very important to him. He loved spending time with his growing family. Whether watching the grandkids play their sports, camping with them or attending family functions he took great pride in being their grandpa. In recent years, with the arrival of great grandchildren, his soft heart was further exposed. He loved watching and playing with them. Art¹s love for his family was always abundantly evident in his never ending commitment to us. Despite always being the first to step up to help others, his independent nature made it hard for him to ask for or accept help. He will be dearly missed. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, 139 – 2 Avenue West, Bow Island on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Sheila McLeod officiating. A private burial service will follow at the Bow Island Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded by visiting our website at http://www.southlandfuneral.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Art¹s name may be made directly to the Bow Island Health Centre, Bag 3990, Bow Island, Alberta T0K 0G0 or to a charity of one¹s choice. Arrangements in care of Southland Funeral Chapel, Taber. Telephone: (403) 223-8778.
