JANICE BEVERLY BAFF, beloved wife of Frank Baff, passed away in Cardston, AB on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the age of 54 years. The Funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cardston Alberta West Stake Center (Waterton Hi-way) on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 2:00 pm. 1918 – 2015

It is with sorrow that we announce the passing away of our dear father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Leonard Jansens, at the Bethesda Care Home in Picture Butte, AB on April 5, 2015, at the age of 96. He leaves to mourn his passing his sons Marvin (Nellie) of Coaldale, Karl of Calgary, Leo (Donna) of Winnipeg, MB, 9 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Job, and sister, Karien, of the Netherlands, as well as 2 brothers-in-law and 5 sisters-in-law. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Toni, his father, mother, 6 brothers, 3 sisters and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. An opportunity for condolences will be held between 7:30 – 8:30 pm on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 in the NETHERLANDS REFORMED CHURCH, Meeting Room, Highway 3 East, Lethbridge. MITCHELL, AGNES MACGREGOR (FREEBAIRN) 1917 – 2015

Our beloved mother passed away peacefully at her home in Vista Village, Pincher Creek, with family by her side on April 4, 2015. She was predeceased by her parents (Scotty and Laura Freebairn), her four siblings, and by her loving husband of 66 years Dr. Lorne Mitchell in 2009. Agnes is survived by her eight children; Robert (Maureen), John (Dana), Joan (Wulf), Mary (Walter), Gordon (Lola), Lorna (Ken), Phil (Bette), and Carol as well as 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Agnes was born and raised in Pincher Creek. She graduated as an RN at the Calgary General Hospital. In 1943, she met and married dad when they were both in the armed services, and they settled in Calgary. By 1955 when mother had five children, they purchased a ranch north of Pincher Creek, a life-changing event. For the next 34 years the family split their time between Calgary and Pincher Creek. In 1989, mother and dad retired to the ranch and lived there for 15 years until they moved to Vista Village where they received exceptional and caring assistance by all of the staff. Mother’s warm, caring and positive spirit, as well as her lovely dry wit will always be treasured. A memorial service was held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday April 9, 2015 at the PINCHER CREEK UNITED CHURCH. 972 Police Ave, Pincher Creek, Alberta. SASAKI

MAE SASAKI passed away on April 3, 2015 at the age of 87 years. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Jiro, her daughter, Janice Sasaki, son-in-law Rob Luck, her brothers Takeshi (Ted), Isamu (Isam), sisters Toshiko and Fumiko. She is predeceased by her father Takejiro and mother Isa, as well as brothers Minoru (Min), Shoji (Shorn) and Hikoza (Hik) and her sister Natsuko (Nerts). Mae was born on the Milk River ridge southeast of Raymond. She was the youngest girl in a family of nine children. Growing up on the Yama (ridge), left Mae with many lasting memories. In 1950, Mae married Jiro Sasaki and they were rarely seen apart for the next sixty-five years. For the first seven years of marriage, they lived in Barnwell. Mae and Jiro then moved to Taber where they made their home and grew exceptional gardens until recently when they moved to Lethbridge. Mae spent over forty years working in health care with most years spent at the Taber Clinic. She was an avid curler, golfer and reader and enjoyed doing crosswords and gardening. She also took up skiing and made many trips to the mountains with family and friends. Her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and especially Jiro, Janice and Rob (Steve) were greatly valued as were her many friends. For the last few months, Mae had resided with Jiro at Garden View Lodge in Lethbridge. The family’s sincere thanks go to all of the wonderful, thoughtful staff there for the kindness and caring they showed Mae. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 St. N, Lethbridge on Thursday, April 9, 2015. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am at the BUDDHIST TEMPLE OF SOUTHERN ALBERTA, 470-40 St. S, Lethbridge on Friday, April 10.
