1921 – 2015

Mr. Thomas Band of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Vera Band passed away at the St. Michael’s Health Centre on Wednesday April 22, 2015 at the age of 93 years. It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of MARVIN CALF ROBE Sr., Onistaahsiinaam (Calf Robe) in Calgary, Alberta on April 21, 2015 at the age of 44 years. Marvin is survived by his mother Carolla Calf Robe, and father Stephan Calf Robe (Grace); wife Teena Calf Robe; children Tashina (Justin), Latasha (Brian), Marvin Jr., and Agustus Calf Robe; grandchildren Johnathan, Jovie, and Nash Potts and Taylee Snow; siblings Lester (Sherri) Crow, Roberta (Dickie) Calf Robe, Bonnie (Harlan) Calf Robe, Kyla (Ray) Crow, Stephanie (Faron) Calf Robe, Sunshine (Garrett) Weasel Moccasin, Lynnie Calf Robe, Robert (Rhonda) Crow, Shane (Neisha) Crow, Morris Crow, William Calf Robe; uncles Raymond Calf Robe, Dayle (Sylvia) Low Horn, and Calvin (Yvonne) Crow; aunties Theresa Many Grey Horses, Rosie (Marty) Reyers, Elizabeth Calf Robe, Pauline Calf Robe, Irene Onepennee and Theresa (William) Messenger; adopted brother George Kerr; and numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, and adopted siblings. Marvin was predeceased by his grandparents Ed and Rita Calf Robe, and Joseph and Florence Crow Spreading Wings; uncles Edwin Calf Robe, Morris Crow Sr., Joseph Prairie Hen, and Michael Crow; aunties Theresa Calf Robe, Molly Calf Robe, Harriet Crow, and Margret Crow; siblings Faye Calf Robe and Darrell Calf Robe. Marvin has a very large extended family who will be mentioned in the program. The Wake Service will be held at the Moses Lake Gymnasium, Blood Reserve on April 26, 2015 from 7:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. After the Wake session, any friends and family that wish to keep Marvin company through the night are welcome to stay. The Funeral Service will be held on April 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Moses Lake Gymnasium, with a feast to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Marvin’s life. Annie Lelekach of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late John Lelekach, passed away peacefully at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Centre on Monday April 20, 2015 at the age of 95 years. PLOURD

TREVOR LAYNE PLOURD, beloved husband of Carolyn Plourd of Lethbridge, passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the age of 62 years. Besides his loving wife, Trevor is survived by his sons Layne Plourd of Lethbridge, Vincent (Chasity Simon) Plourd of Calgary, and Dan Plourd of Lethbridge as well as siblings Paul (Gail) Plourd of Coalhurst, Shelly Plourd of Calgary and sister-in-law Cora Plourd of P.E.I. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Trevor is predeceased by his parents Paul & Haroldean Plourd and brother Lindy Plourd. Trevor was born in Carmangay, AB in 1953 and was raised in Lethbridge. He met and married the love of his life, Carolyn Malkas, in 1974. They were married for 40 years and together, raised their three children. Trevor loved music and truly enjoyed playing bass guitar in a local band, “Horse”. He also had a keen interest in large vehicles and classic cars. Trevor will be truly missed by his family. A Trevor’s request, no formal Funeral Service will be held.

“Uncle” Morris (Uncle Sam) passed away peacefully at St. Michaels Palliative Care Centre on Thursday, April 16, 2015. SOMMERFELDT

MARCIA JANE (FOOKS) SOMMERFELDT, beloved wife of Dr. T. Drew Sommerfeldt, passed away in Lethbridge at the age of 61 (July 5, 1953 – April 22, 2015). She is survived by her five children and her thirteen grandchildren: Cori (David) Anderson (Dashiell, Camilla, Miles); Steven (Christie) Sommerfeldt (Mackenzie, Tanner); Amy (Brian) Purnell (Jack, Mark, George, Henry); Julie (Matt) Christensen (Hailey, Samuel, Nathan, Isla); and Kaitlan Sommerfeldt. She is also survived by her mother, Georgia Fooks, her sisters, Shannon (Rob) Mossey and Lori (Dan) Williams and her brother Scott (Colleen) Fooks. She was predeceased by her father, Norman Fooks. Marci attended BYU and later obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree, specializing in Family History. She was an avid genealogist and spent many hours searching out her ancestors. She loved to be in the mountains and hiked for many years with the Mountain Mommas. An accomplished pianist, she attained the ARCT, the highest diploma accreditation from the Royal Conservatory of Music and taught piano for many years. She loved to sew and quilt and many of her family and friends are recipients of her handiwork. She also displayed several quilts in art shows in Southern Alberta. She travelled extensively, including hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru and a safari in Africa, as well as motorcycle trips throughout North America. She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and her faith was the foundation of her life. She was a fun-loving and energetic person, much loved by her large family and many close friends. She bravely fought a 21 year battle with cancer with optimism and perseverance. She will be greatly missed. Friends may meet the family on Friday, April 24 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge, or prior to the funeral service on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, LETHBRIDGE WEST STAKE CENTRE, 560 Highlands Blvd. West, Lethbridge, with Bishop Kent Earl officiating. STOCKDALE

VICTOR ROBERT STOCKDALE born November 22, 1920, at Munson, Alberta passed away in Cardston on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at age 94. Victor was predeceased by his father Robert Stockdale, mother Mary Ethel Agar, sister Dorothy Blanche, brothers Donald Verton and Melvin Grant Bond and by his third wife Beth Marion Gaunt (Hawthorne). He is survived by his sisters Ruth Winona Edgar (Stuart) and Ethel Roberta Robbie Mansfield (Joe), former wife Grace Halliday Rome, former wife Lois Jean Lovse (Martin), his children: Ronald Victor Stockdale (Veryl), Leslie Carol Clarke (Richard), Barry James Stockdale (Lorraine-deceased), Wendy Jolane Purnell (James), Thomas Conrad Stockdale (Deborah), Richard Glenn Stockdale (Linda), Kevin Halliday Stockdale (Val) and by his loving grandchildren, including greats and great-greats. Victor was a veteran of WW2, he was a man of great faith and generosity. He enjoyed serving others whether driving trolley, city bus, working as a projectionist or giving rides in his amphibious car. He had a never ending sense of humor and was very kind, loving and gentle. He was much loved by family and friends, and will be greatly missed. Friends may meet the family at the LEGACY FUNERAL HOME (107-6 St W Cardston) on Sunday, April 26th, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. or at the Church from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. prior to the service. The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, TEMPLE STREET CHAPEL, (355-3 St. W) Cardston, Alberta on Monday, April 27th, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Interment in the Glenwood Memorial Gardens, Sherwood Park, Alberta on Tuesday, April 28th at 11:30 a.m. Donations accepted in his memoriam to the General Missionary Fund of the LDS Church.
