BETH CLAIRE (CONRAD) FISHER OF LETHBRIDGE

Beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, Beth passed away peacefully on Friday, April 24, 2015 at the age of 75 years. Born in Lethbridge to the late Roy and Lois Conrad on March 21, 1940, she was raised on a ranch west of Claresholm in the Porcupine Hills. After graduating from high school in 1958, she completed a degree in education at the University of Alberta where she met and married her lifelong companion and love, Jim. They were married in the Cardston temple for time and eternity in 1964. Throughout her life she taught school, ranched, farmed, gardened, picked berries, made pickles and maintained a healthy habit of daily walks; things just tended to grow around her. She raised crops, cattle, sheep, chickens, children, dogs, cats, pigs, a horse, a row of asparagus, a pheasant named Phineas and a beautiful rose garden. She contributed to the community as county councilwoman, member of the library board, school board trustee and the president of both the local and provincial Alzheimer’s society. As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she was a conscientious visiting teacher, Primary president, Relief Society president, nursery assistant, and missionary in the Canada Montreal mission with her husband Jim in 2003. During her retirement, she and Jim traveled all over the world, from Alaska to the Great Barrier Reef to the Holy Land. Beth is lovingly remembered by her husband, James Fisher; her children, Carolyn (Steve Arthur) Fisher, Kathryn (Josh) Molcak and Michael Fisher; her grandchildren, Geneva Fisher, Kieran Fisher Arthur, Riley Molcak and Avery Molcak; her sister, Bernice (Marvin) Miller; her brother, Marvin (Judy) Conrad; her sisters-in-law, Wylene McConkey and Connie Shields; along with nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She always had a straight-shooting dry sense of humour, coupled with kind and gentle words of encouragement. She will be greatly missed. Friends may meet the family on Wednesday, April 29 from 10:00 to 10:50am at the Forestry Avenue LDS Chapel, 4105 Forestry Avenue South, Lethbridge. The Funeral Service will follow at 11a.m. with Bishop Michael Evans officiating. The interment will follow at the Temple Hill Cemetery, Raymond. The family would like to thank the medical team and staff at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Unit who provided great comfort and care to Beth during the last months of her life.
