IAN BURNETT, beloved husband of Jean Burnett, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at the St. Michael’s Health Centre on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the age of 89 years.

Eric Sydney Burns

1929 – 2015

Eric Sydney Burns, beloved husband and father, passed away suddenly on May 15, 2015 in Lethbridge, Alberta.

Eric was born in Red Deer, Alberta on April 22, 1929, the only son of the late John and Freda Burns.

Eric is survived by Norma, his loving wife and companion of 60 years; sons Murray Wayne and Mark David; daughter Verna Lynn; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

As a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Eric served the Lord in many callings through the years. Serving a mission together with Norma was a highlight in their lives.

Eric loved people. After retiring from accounting and sales, he enjoyed working at Wendy’s where he was interested in every person he met. Building relationships was important to him. Eric was a hard worker, very friendly and outgoing. Nothing was too much trouble for him to do for you. Eric was always active and loved living life. We will miss him very much!

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 7:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 Street South, Lethbridge.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS, WEST STAKE CENTER, 560 Highlands Blvd West, Lethbridge, with Bishop Mervin Orr officiating. Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

STRYKER

ROSINA “ROSE” STRYKER of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Glen Stryker, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2015 at the age of 95 years.

Rose was born on February 17, 1920 in Yugoslavia. She immigrated to Canada with her parents and two sisters in 1934 and settled north of Manyberries, AB. She married Glen Stryker in 1947 and settled on a farm south of Orion near Pakowki Lake until retiring in Lethbridge in 1980. In 2011 and due to deteriorating health, Rose had to move into Fairmont Extendicare in Lethbridge.

Rose is lovingly remembered by 3 sons; Alfred (Wendy) of Medicine Hat; Stanley (Wanda) of Coaldale and William (Gladys) of Orion as well as 4 grandchildren; Chad (Megan) Stryker; Becky (Blayne) Dixson; Tim and Candace Stryker and 5 great-grandchildren. Rose is also survived by one brother, George (Doreen) Bechtloff of Medicine Hat and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Glen, her parents Karl and Anna Bechtloff and her sisters and brothers-in-law; Minnie (Adam) Jetter and Emma (Earl) Stryker.

A Funeral Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB., on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Thomas Peterson officiating. An Interment will follow in the family plot at Mountain View Cemetery.

THIESSEN

IKE THIESSEN, beloved husband of Iva Thiessen of Lethbridge, AB. Passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on May 15, 2015 at the age of 85 years.

He is the loving father of son David (Mary-Anne), daughters Barb Larson (Andrew), and Beverly (Scott) Smith. Loving grandfather to Tracy Thiessen, Braden and Randal Larson(Charmayne), Karissa and Kyle Smith.

Great grandfather to Jordynn and Wyatt Larson.

He is also survived by sisters Ann Zacharias of Calgary, AB and Mary (John) Lang of Mayerthorpe, AB. Brother in law Irvin (Georgina) Bennett. Along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by parents Jacob and Mary Thiessen, brothers Pete (Carol), Jake (Florence), John (Susie), and George (Betty), sisters Helen (Mike) Maty, Tina Giesbrecht, and Betty (Ian) Leslie.

Ike was born on February 1, 1930 in Swift Current, SK. Moved to Lethbridge in 1954 and worked as a mechanic at Beny’s Chev Olds. Met the love of his life Iva Bennett whom he married in April 1957. He spent the next several years working up north for GSI as heavy duty mechanic while raising his family in Eckville, AB. Returned to Lethbridge in 1981 and ended up joining Nord-bridge Seniors Centre where he spent many hours driving the seniors tour bus on many different adventures. After retirement mom and dad enjoyed travelling to various destinations, especially is they had a casino. His favorite adventures involved taking his grandchildren on camping trips to BC.

An Informal Visitation will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME – 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, Alberta, on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M.

Cremation to follow.

No formal funeral service will be held at Ike’s request.

1932 – 2015

Mr. Miro Tomasta of Coaldale, beloved husband of Mrs. Lydia Tomasta, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on May 14, 2015 at the age of 82 years.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at ST. AMBROSE CHURCH, 1513-23 Ave Coaldale, with Father Newton Rodrigues celebrant.
