Alan Joseph Fabro
March 22nd 1945 – June 11th 2015
How do you capture in words the life of a man who lived so profoundly; a man who could measure his life by richness in relationships he formed with those he met, even if only for a brief moment.
It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of ALAN JOSEPH FABRO, on Thursday June 11th2015, after a courageous three year battle with Metastatic Colon Cancer. Rightly so, this devoted husband and loving father took his final breath while in the presence of family.
Alan fought his cancer with unwavering strength. He never complained nor felt sorry for himself. For Alan, the past three years were a time to be thankful for all of the blessings in his life and to say goodbye to those he held so dearly. Shortly after Alan was diagnosed he wrote the following passage in his journal:
I will look at this ‘thug’ named cancer and stare him straight in the eye.
I will not blink.
He may take my life, but NOT my spirit!
Alan was a true man of the moment. He loved life and had so many joys. In his passing he did not want us to speak of his accomplishments whether in sport or business, despite there being many to speak of. His successes in life were never the intention; they were the by-product of living a life of action, taking risks and living each moment to its fullest. Alan’s greatest accomplishments were his family and the relationships he developed with those around him.
Near the end of his journey Alan reflected back on some of the highlights of his life:
· He was born and raised in Kimberley, B.C.; a mining town of hard working people; a town of closeness and character; a town in one of the most beautiful parts of the world.
· Alan was raised by great parents of Italian descent. They instilled family values of honesty, modesty, and respect for all people.
· He married the love of his life – Virginia (from Southern Georgia). They met and were engaged to be married in only eight days. A marriage that would last 40 years and only separable through Alan’s passing.
· The gift of their children Alison and Scott and their wonderful spouses Doug and Ashley. A family that was, and will remain very close.
· The companionship of a twin brother, Colin. In youth, he was always someone to play catch with. Colin is still the finest person.
· The joy of observing staff at McKay Bros. and later on at Western Tractor. Their hard work and diligence was constant.
· The wonderful relationships that Virginia and Alan developed with others over the years; within the John Deere business and outside of work.
· The joy of 6 grandchildren, each one having their own distinct personality.
· Quiet moments with just Virginia, and hectic moments when all the family was together at Alan’s favourite place – Wasa Lake. The lake view and Rocky Mountains were forever etched in Alan’s mind.
Alan is survived by his wife Virginia, daughter Alison (Doug) Pilsner, son Scott (Ashley) Fabro, mother Fiorina (98 years of age), twin brother Colin, and six beautiful grandchildren – Nolan, Brooke, Makena; Briggs, Rhett, and Ford. Alan is also survived by his sister-in-law Janet and nephew Ryan (Jacquie) Fabro, mother-in-law Eleanor Hallman and a large extended family in Southern Georgia (the finest y’all could ever meet). Alan was predeceased by his father Milo, older brother Robert, and father-in-law Roy Hallman.

MILLER
It is with sadness that we announce that our dad,
RONALD LEROY MILLER, beloved husband of Helen, passed away surrounded by family, in the St. Michael’s Health Centre Palliative Care Unit on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at the age of 79 years following a courageous battle with cancer.
Dad was born June 11, 1936 in Calgary to Howard and Vivian Miller. They grew as a family in Calgary and it was here that Dad met Mom in 8th grade. They married soon after high school and have been together ever since. Throughout this time, they were blessed with five children and 12 grandchildren. Growing up, Mom and Dad took us on annual camping trips to Shuswap Lake; an excursion we always looked forward to and remember fondly. We also loved the endless hours spent around the player piano, singing and dancing as a family. In the 70’s when the Sears store opened in Lethbridge, our family moved here and Dad managed the Auto Centre. After 5 years, they returned to Calgary where he continued his career with Sears and in the insurance business until his retirement. Mom and Dad travelled extensively and cherished their adventures to Hawaii, Europe and the US, often on cruises and by car. Dad was an avid golfer and enjoyed nothing more than playing the game with his father, children and grandchildren, especially when he could show them his putting skill on the greens. As for cards, no matter who showed up to the crib board, they knew to have their quarters or loonies ready. Dad and Mom recently returned to Lethbridge to be closer to family when Mom’s struggle with Alzheimer’s progressed.
Dad is survived by the love of his life, Helen and his children; Brian (Sharon) Miller of Lethbridge, Kim (Tony) Mrak of Lethbridge, Kevin (Darlene) Miller of Calgary, Robin Miller (Shelly) of Kelowna, B.C., Cory Miller (Maryann) of Lethbridge, as well as his grandchildren; Tyler (Michelle), Joel, Trevor (Monica), Amber (Sam), Brendan, Chad, Natasha, Jennifer, Cody, Rylie, Jordyn, and Jenna (Andrew). He is also survived by his sister Mavis (Rev. Brown) Milne of Calgary, sister-in-law Jean (Charlie) Wooten of Osoyoos, B.C. as well as a niece and nephews. Dad was predeceased by his parents Howard and Vivian Miler and parents- in-law Margaret Sasso and Harry Mills.
A Memorial Service will be held in Calgary at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in Ron’s name may be made directly to the Palliative Care Unit at St. Michael’s Health Centre, 1400 9th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 4V5, S.T.A.R.S., 1441 Aviation Park NE, Box 570, Calgary, AB, T2E 8M7, or a charity of your choice.

, beloved son of Linda Pedersen and Bent Pedersen (Barb Vos) and loving brother to Tami Pedersen, passed away surrounded by family, on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at the age of 39 years, due to complications sustained in a pedestrian accident.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his sister Tami, nieces Ashley and Brynley, great nephews Greyson and Eastyn, grandmother Henny Pedersen, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins as well as his special four legged friend, Lexi.
Kent was born on February 29, 1976 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Lethbridge. He attended Our Lady of the Assumption School, St. Francis Junior High, Catholic Central High School and Lethbridge College.
Kent filled his days with sports, friends, Facebook, many hugs and Coca-Cola. He truly lived his life. Kent was a proud team member of the Integrated Bowling League and looked forward to Friday night games and seeking out the highest score. Kent was an avid collector of team jerseys and proudly displayed all 45 of them… most of them Oilers, many of them signed. He loved to play Uno with his friends and had many intense games of Mental Blox with family, especially Grumpy. Kent loved music, karaoke nights, playing Sega and of course, pushing people in the pool. Kent loved his family and friends; late night / early morning text messages were not uncommon. There was never a dull moment at family events and holidays with Kent’s speeches, jokes, and never ending picture taking. He was the Edmonton Oilers biggest fan and loved the Toronto Blue Jays just as much. He found as much joy listening to games on the radio or watching on TV as he did sitting in the stands; which he was fortunate enough to do on many occasions.
Kent was a huge part of the Lethbridge community through his work at PEAK Vocational Services, SAIPA and countless hours of volunteering his time.
He will be greatly missed and is forever in our hearts.
