1928 – 2015
Alexander (Alex) W. Kalau of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Irma Kalau, passed away at the Edith Cavell Care Centre on Thursday, June 30, 2015 at the age of 86 years.

HEATON
With great sadness we announce the passing of ROBERT “BOB” HEATON, beloved husband of Marilynn (nee Scherer). Bob passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, in the St. Michael’s Health Centre – Palliative Care Unit, on Monday, June 29, 2015, at the age of 76 years. Bob was a loving father to Karen (Bill Ewing), Melanie (Pat Belliveau), and Neil (Trish Jackson), grandfather to Amy Ewing (Fabian Richards) and Arla Ewing, great-grandfather to Jordan Ewing-Richards, and special uncle to all his nieces and nephews, especially Amber and Joel Mueller.
Bob was born on February 27, 1939 in Lethbridge, Alberta. He is survived by his brother Donald (Norleen) of Waterloo, ON and predeceased by his parents, Harold and Kay Heaton.
Bob and Marilynn were married on September 15, 1962. To Bob’s delight, Karen, Melanie and Neil arrived shortly thereafter. Spending time with his family was the most important part of his life and he enjoyed their holidays, parties and vacations together.Bob spent 30 years as a primary products inspector for the federal government, followed by five years in provincial government meat inspection. His passion was being of service to others where he volunteered at Chinook Regional Hospital, moving through various positions over 35 years. He was also active in various ministries in his church and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and camping and travelling with friends and family, especially the cruises and bus trips. Bob courageously fought a two-year battle with multiple myeloma (a type of cancer), which unfortunately brought his travels to an end. The family would like to thank all the medical staff that provided such excellent care with special heartfelt appreciation for Dr. Benke and the staff at the Jack Ady Cancer Centre and Dr. Smuts and the staff at St. Michael’s Health Centre Palliative Care.
A Prayer Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME – 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, Alberta, on Friday, July 10th, 2015 at 7:00 P.M. with Mr. Gary Hudak officiating.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH – 2405 – 12 Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta on Saturday, July 11th, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Nathan Siray celebrating.

HYLAND
DEREK GEORGE HYLAND, beloved husband of Ann Hyland of Fort Macleod, passed away at St. Michael’s Health Centre on Friday, June 26, 2015 at the age of 67 years.
He is the loving father of Randy (Jennie) Hyland of Lethbridge, AB. He is survived by four grandchildren: Liam, Callum, Fiona, and Abiageal. Derek is also survived by his siblings: Alan (Dianne) Hyland, David (Linda) Hyland, Robin Hyland, Judy (Vern) Knapik, and Liz Worley.
He is predeceased by his parents Ron and Doris Hyland, brother Colin Hyland and his oldest son Robert Hyland.
Derek was born in Medicine Hat on November 21,1947. He was raised in Bow Island where he completed his schooling and worked on the family farm. In 1965 he joined the RCAF and did basic training in Winnipeg, MB, then deployed to Comox, BC where he was discharged in 1971 and ended up moving back to his home town of Bow Island.
He married the love of his live, Patricia Ann McArter on July 15, 1967. In 1974 Derek started his second career with Greyhound Bus Lines where he drove for 34 years and thousands of miles until retiring in 2007. He loved every year and mile that he drove with Greyhound. He was able to see different parts of Canada and the US, and whether it was driving regular runs or Charters he truly never complained. He had made several friends along the way including other drivers, depot agents, passengers, and pretty much anybody that he came in contact with.
Derek spent many years involved in refereeing hockey in Calgary and Fort Macleod. He loved watching his two grandsons as they played football, and he enjoyed just spending quality time with them. He loved watching his granddaughters in ballet and soccer and teaching them how to garden ‘his’ way.

Michael Gordon King
1944 – 2015
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Michael Gordon King on Tuesday, June 30th, 2015 at age 70 after a brave fight with cancer. Born in Poole, England, on November 9th, 1944, Michael arrived in Calgary at end of the war. He called Calgary home for most of his life, also spending time in Okotoks before finally moving to Lethbridge 10 years ago. As a proud father and grandfather, we will miss his quick wit and warm laugh, his love of family and welcomed advice. Sports were his life’s passion, both playing and watching, with golf, curling and hockey always being favorites. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren in their activities. Michael also enjoyed sharing a laugh with friends, long drives and Western art and culture.
Michael leaves behind his daughter, Karen Amantea and his son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Gina King, along with cherished grandchildren Cam Amantea and Sophia, Isabella, Benjamin and Jacob King. Michael also leaves behind his sister and brother-in-law Jackie and Bob Beagle, friend Valerie Ives and sister-in-law Nikki King, along with numerous nieces and nephews and many good friends. He is predeceased by his mother and father Margaret and Gordon King, and brother Ron King.
Respecting Michael’s wishes there will be a private family graveside service.

HOWARD “BEV” LACELLE, beloved husband of Rhea Lacelle, of Lethbridge and formerly of Lloydminster, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, May 18, 2015 at the age of 81 years.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his children; Bradford (Maura) Lacelle and their son James of Fort Saskatchewan and Brenda (Wade) Logan and their children John and Devin of Lethbridge.
Dad’s life was full of adventure and passion like very few others. DORIS WINNIFRED MCINTOSH of Lethbridge, AB., passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the age of 82 years.
Doris is survived by her grandson, Cameron McIntosh and brother Robert Lenz. She will also be deeply missed by her dear friend and caregiver, David Lalonde.
Doris was predeceased by her parents and son Donald.

 Ewalt Paul
1933 – 2015
Ewalt Paul passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 30th, 2015 at the age of 81 years. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years Lilly, son Alan (Kari) and daughter Elaine (Rory). He leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Nicholas and Bradley Ross; and Nathan, Curtis, and Megan Paul. He will also be missed by his brother Gustav and sister Lucy (Witold), as well as numerous other family members and friends.
Ewalt was born as the middle child to John and Anna Pauliukaitis in Skirsnemune, Lithuania on November 14th, 1933. He immigrated to Canada with his family in 1949, settling in Magrath, Alberta. Here they made a living by working beet fields and doing other farming chores. He met Lilly at a dance in Lethbridge in 1958 and they married in August of the following year. Together they raised their family in Magrath before retiring to Lethbridge after 37 years of work for Alberta Environment. Ewalt was also an active member of the Magrath Golf Club and St. John’s Lutheran Church. He spent his free time pursuing his many passions: golfing, fishing, hunting and dancing. Ewalt always enjoyed sharing these interests with his family and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at ST. JOHN’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 82 N. 2 St. W., Magrath, AB, with Pastor Nathan Fuehrer, officiating. SIROCCHI
Rinaldo Sirocchi
passed away peacefully at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, BC on Friday, June 26th, 2015 at the age of 90.
Rinaldo was born in Sefro, Macerata (Marche Region) Italy on September 13th, 1924, and immigrated to Canada on May 31st, 1952. After moving to Lethbridge, Alberta in June 1953, Rinaldo began working at the Canadian Government Elevator / Alberta Terminals, retiring in 1983.
In the fall of 1957 Rinaldo met his wife Teresa and they were married on February 7th, 1959. Raising his family of three girls in southern Alberta, he followed them to the west coast in 2000, after they settled in the Vancouver area.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 56 years, Teresa, daughters Albina (Steve) Vaughan, Lori (Al) White, and Sandra (Kevin) Scow, his grandsons Alex and Nick White, granddaughter Emily Vaughan and step grandson Jacob Scow.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph the Worker Parish on 4451 Williams Road in Richmond, BC on Friday, July 3rd at 11:00 am. Entombment to be held at Gardens of Gethsemani Mausoleum (15800 – 32 Avenue in South Surrey, BC).In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada (www.kidney.ca) would be greatly appreciated.

LEONARD A. WENSMAN
, beloved husband of Margaret Wensman of Milk River, AB., passed away peacefully on Monday, June 29, 2015 at the age of 86 years.
Besides his loving wife Margaret, Leonard is survived by his children: Gary (Jeanette) Wensman of Labrador City, NFLD, Keith (Carol) Wensman of Milk River, AB, Corinne (Dan) Anderson of Langdon, AB, Maxine (Lindsay) Vickers of Calgary, AB, and Rhonda (Mike) de Visser of Nanton, AB. He is also the loving grandfather of Jessica, Katie, Thomas, Allison, Nicholas, Nicole, Erin, Sean, Cam, Elliot, Troy, and Tyler. Leonard is also survived by his sister Isabelle Yahn and sister in-law Helen (Murray) Kubian. He was predeceased by his parents August and Anna Wensman and siblings Alma, Burga, Felix, Clara, Liz, Dorothy, Bridget, and Ida.
Leonard was born in Lethbridge, AB to August and Anna Wensman on May 30, 1929. He began his farming career at an early age, when his father passed away. On September 29, 1962, Leonard married Margaret Sieben in Calgary, AB. They farmed east of Milk River and raised their five children. They retired to Milk River in November 1989. Over the years, he was involved in many local organizations. Leonard loved ski-dooing, fishing, hunting and camping. He enjoyed curling, golfing, shooting pool, making sausage, gardening and playing cards as well. He always had time to spend with family and took great pleasure in watching his grandchildren grow. Leonard was always willing to lend a hand when needed and he will be greatly missed.

Arthur Donald “Don” White
1924 – 2015
With great sadness we announce the passing of Mr. Arthur Donald (Don) White at the age of 91 years.
He leaves to mourn his beloved wife of 67 years, Mrs. Rose Eveline White, his daughter, Marla (Michael) Largary of Brooks, and his sons, Al (Marianna), and Bradley (Rachelle) of Lethbridge. Also, he leaves 10 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren who all loved him dearly, and his beloved sister, Mrs. Kathleen (Kay) Cummins on her farm near Torrington, AB.
He lived a very active life up to his passing, and was a lifelong boy scout taking in many jamborees worldwide. He served his country in World War II as an aircraft instrument technician with the RCAF, served as a reserve army officer for 24 years with Southern Alberta Regiment (SAR) in Medicine Hat, Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RCEME), Royal Canadian Engineers (RCE), and Royal Canadian Artillery (RCA), all units that existed in Lethbridge over the years.
He was transferred to Lethbridge in 1950 with his wife Rose as Chief Engineer of the Crystal Dairy downtown until 1972 when he left the milk business to work for Gilbeys at Palliser Distillers as a Power Engineer and mechanic until his retirement in 1992. He also spent 25 years at the Lethbridge College teaching 4th class Power engineering two nights a week. He helped many students receive their 4th class Power Engineering ticket to further their careers in their fields of employment.
He was an active member with the Army, Navy, Air Force Veterans club (ANAF) of Lethbridge for over 50 years, active with the Boy Scouts of Canada most of his life, along with the Navy League of Canada.
Dad did it all… Air, ground and sea. All bases covered.
He also was a member of the Lethbridge United Services Institute (LUSI) since its inception, and enjoyed the many friendships he had with its members over the years.
His real passion was to travel the world, which he did very well over his many trips abroad. With his last trip conquering the Great Wall of China at the age of 80, and being invited by the Government of Canada to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Vimy Ridge with the Queen of England’s presence in Northern France in 2006, along with his son, Al accompanying him there. Dad’s father was also a World War I veteran as a mounted machine gunner, but was not involved at Vimy Ridge.
He enjoyed many hours in retirement at the Lethbridge Seniors Club playing carpet bowling with his many friends and serving on the board for some years as well.
He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur Tom White and Elsie Violet White
(Peckham) of Medicine Hat, and his eldest beloved son, Earl Curtis White and his lovely wife Valerie (Oakes) of Edmonton.
He always believed in helping his fellow man, and to always do his best whatever the task was before him.
He will be remembered.
Farewell Dad, grandpa, great grandpa and “Don” as everyone knew him by.
Please join us in a celebration of life and remembrance for, Don on July 26 at 1300 to 1600 hrs. ( 1pm to 4pm ) at the Army, Navy, Air Force veterans club in downtown Lethbridge.
