BACZUK

On the morning of Sunday, August 30, 2015, MAGDALENE MARY BACZUK, of Milk River, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital, at the age of 92 years.

Magdalene is lovingly remembered by her son Bryan, daughter-in-law Laverne, grandson Aaron and his wife Wimple, and great-grandsons, Declan and Devlin.

She is also survived by Joe Baczuk (Leona), Barbara Culver (Jim), Louie Baczuk (Patti), Loretta Kalau (Art), Caroline Makarenko (Ed), and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by John Baczuk (Betty), Margret Garber (Frank), Steve Baczuk, Mary Gilchrist (Alistair), Irene Pedersen (Lloyd), and Chester Baczuk.

Magdalene was born in Kipling, Saskatchewan and moved at an early age to homestead with her parents, Steve and Magdalene Baczuk, west of Milk River. She and her 11 brothers and sisters worked hard during the “dirty thirties” to keep the farm going. She loved the farm life and never complained about the hard work she enjoyed doing.

She loved knitting, crocheting, embroidery, bingo, gardening, and serving fabulous meals on holidays with family and friends. When she moved to town she enjoyed coffee, playing cards, and visiting with her many girlfriends.

A Prayer Vigil will be held at ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH – 321 Main Street, Milk River, Alberta on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at 7:00 P.M.

A Funeral Mass will be held at ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, Milk River, Alberta on Friday, September 4, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Benedicto Tugano IV, Celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Magdalene’s name to the Heart and Stoke Foundation, P.O. Box 2211, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 4K7 or to a charity of one’s choice.


BROWN

LAWRENCE LAYNE BROWN, beloved husband of Patricia Ruth Brown, of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at the age of 86 years.

Besides his wife, Lawrence is survived by his three children; Bryan, Leslee and Todd, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

At Lawrence’s request, no formal funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Mrs. Ethel Irene Herbst of Lethbridge, Alberta, passed away at the Legacy Lodge on Monday, August 31, 2015 at the age of 91 years.

Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be held at 7:00PM, on Friday, September 4, 2015, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4th Street South, Lethbridge.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00AM, on Saturday, September 5, 2015, at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CHURCH, 2405 – 12th Avenue South, Lethbridge, with Father Lukas Drapal celebrant. A private family Inurnment was held at Warner Cemetery.

Gijsbertus Jacobus (Gilbert) Grisnich

Grieving in hope we announce the passing away of our dear husband, father, father-in-law and Opa Gijsbertus Jacobus (Gilbert) Grisnich of Fort Macleod on September 1, 2015 at the age of 83 after a brief, patiently born illness. Gilbert was born in Hoofdorp, the Netherlands on April 3, 1932. He immigrated to Iron Springs, Alberta with his parents and family in 1948. He met his wife Anneke (Joanne) Guliker there and they married on May 3, 1956. Gilbert and Joanne raised their family in Lethbridge and Chilliwack, retiring in Fort Macleod. Gilbert is survived by his loving wife Joanne, his seven children; Marian (Martin) Neels, Ron (Jane) Grisnich, Nita (Russ) Traber, Edith Grisnich, John (Audrey) Grisnich, Annette (Jerry) Beusekom, Geraldine (Bert) Vanden Hoek, 34 grandchildren, and 52 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Jane, his parents Reijer and Gerarda Grisnich, his brother Wim, infant brother Gerrit, and more recently his brothers, Gerrit, John, Ray, and Cornelius and sister Alice Barendregt. Brothers-in-law Henk VanderVeen, Willem Vossebelt, Theo Leeuwenburgh and Case Barendregt. A Funeral Service will be held at Bethel Free Reformed Church (Monarch, Alberta) at 10:30am on Friday September 4th with Pastor Eric Moerdyk officiating.


Joan (Blacker) Janasak

1932 – 2015

Mrs. Joan Janasak of Taber, beloved wife of the late Mr. Frank Janasak, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at the age of 83 years.

Joan was born in Lethbridge at the Galt Hospital on July 4, 1932. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, crocheting and always found time to sit down to enjoy her favourite show Lawrence Welk.

She is predeceased by her husband Frank Janasak as well as a son Elby Crandell.

She is survived by her daughters Evelyn (Dan) Hull and their children Courtney Loewen, Bryan Loewen, Carmen (Del) Bodnarek and Cory (Latisha) Hull; Ellie (Darcy) Orsten and their children Amanda Orsten, Chelsea Orsten; great-grandchild Ryker Orsten; son Bob (Shelly) Ledgerwood; brother Harry (Diane) Blacker; daughter in law Connie Crandell; as well as many extended family members.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, September 4, 2015 at KNOX UNITED CHURCH, 4929 50 Ave, Taber, AB. A private family inurnment will be held in Vauxhall Cemetery.

MR. ROLF KARCH, 91, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Martha Karch, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 30th, 2015, at the Good Samaritans – West Highlands in Lethbridge, AB.

Visitation will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 – Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Thursday, September 3rd, 2015 from 11:00 A.M. to 12:15 P.M.

TOMIYAMA

DOREEN (LEHMAN) TOMIYAMA, beloved wife of Murray Skelding, of Fort Macleod, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, August 31, 2015 at the age of 72 years.

She is the loving mother of one son Brent (Lisa) Lehman and two grandchildren Breanne and Brady Lehman of Lethbridge.

Doreen is also survived by Murray’s children, Pam (Richie), Michael (Nicole), Dannielle, Nicole (Aaron) and grandchildren Robbie, Courtney and Denise.

She was predeceased by her parents Willy and Mabel Lehman and three grandchildren Bret, Brentson and Alisa.

A Celebration of Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Jerry Hofer, officiating.

BERNARD WOLF CHILD, beloved husband of Beverly, passed away in Moses Lake on August 31, 2015 at the age of 56 years.
