Gregory Peter Chyz
1961 – 2015
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Greg Chyz on September 10, 2015.
Greg was a husband, father, brother and dear friend to many. In his 54 years, Greg lived life to the fullest and was a gentle person with a big heart. He worked extensively on pipeline construction projects throughout Western Canada for over 37 yrs. and was respected by all as a hardworking, conscientious individual. His quick wit, smile and humor were enjoyed by everyone.
Greg is lovingly remembered by his wife, Irene; children Gregory, Zackary and Lindsay (Casey); His sister Bert (Randy) Bachinsky, and brother Mike Chyz; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and friends.
He was pre-deceased by his parents Bob and Alice Chyz, father-in-law Ernest Fedorowich; grandparents Mike and Helen Chyz, Peter and Effie Kostelniuk; nephew Corbin Chyz; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00pm, on Friday, September 18, 2015 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4th Street South, Lethbridge. Interment to follow at a later date.

Krystyna Czeslawa Kasperski
1931 – 2015
Mrs. Krystyna Czeslawa Kasperski of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Stanislaw Kasperski, passed away peacefully at St. Michael’s Health Centre on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the age of 84 years.
Krystyna was born in Poland on March 12, 1931 where she was raised and educated. Her hard work and dedication resulted in her working for a number of years in the accounting field. In 1954, she married Kazimierz Sobieszuk who passed away in 1982. In 1987, Krystyna met and married Stanislaw Kasperski in Lethbridge. She resided in Lethbridge until her passing.
Krystyna is survived by her son Waldemar and his wife Krystyna, grandson Lukasz (all of Poland), sister-in-law Mary Uwazny, nephew Fred Uwazny, niece Elane Fredrickson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families; both in Canada and Poland.
She was predeceased by her parents, husbands, brothers and sisters.
Krystyna was a devout Roman Catholic, attending mass regularly and volunteering her time to all events. She also practiced what was preached, with her genuine kindness, and always willing and able to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She frequently volunteered her time at the Polish Canadian Association by organizing and preparing meals for special events.
Most of Krystyna’s life was spent gardening, cooking and baking, which she loved all equally, especially when she had the chance to share with friends. She also liked to crochet and do other crafts which she would give away to friends or donated to charities. Her favourite way to relax was to do puzzles or Soduko.
Krystyna and her family would like to thank all of the doctors and nursing staff of the Chinook Regional Hospital and St. Michael’s Health Centre for the care they provided during her illness. Krystyna would also like to thank everyone for their prayers, love and support, especially to the Prozniak family (Josefina, Joe and Zosia), Ismeta and EddyBajraktaveric, Matt Malinowski, Aida and Eugene Wilamowicz.
Vigil Rites will be held at 7:00pm on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405-12 Ave. S., Lethbridge, AB.

Casper Hendrik Meyer, beloved husband of Lorraine Meyer, passed away
in Taber on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the age of 88 years.

survived by his children Judith “Judy†(Harold) Jensen of Taber, Debra
(Don) Gochenour of Great Falls and Robert Meyer; grandsons Jack T.
“Jackie†Evans Jr. and Randall Scott Evans “Randy, the Cow pie kidâ€;
granddaughters Tamara Rose Paris “Tambones†and Kristie Lynn Clewes
“Kristie Poohâ€.
He was predeceased by his older brothers Ernest Meyer and Bob Meyer
and younger brother Bill Meyer.
Cass was born in Calgary on May 11, 1927. Lorraine was born ten hours
earlier on May 10 in High River. They waited to get married on May 12,
1948 when they were both twenty one and didn’t need their parent’s
permission to get married. Cass was always proud of that fact. They
were married and sealed in the Cardston, Alberta temple.
Cass’s mother Margaretha Scheen and father Abraham Meyer, were from
Haarlem, Netherlands and immigrated to Canada and settled in the
Cardston area shortly after they were married. Abraham or “Bram†as he
was affectionately called, died just three weeks shy of Cass turning
five years old. His mother never remarried and raised three young boys
as a single mother.
Cass grew up in Cardston during most of his younger life. After high
school he attended the Calgary Business College where he met his
future wife, Lorraine.
Cass and his brother Bill learned to box at a young age and trained
together. Most people thought they were twins. Cass taught many a
young man how to box, including his grandsons.
In 1954 his young family moved to Salt Lake City where he started a
career as a retail store manager and worked for a company called W. T.
Grants. He and his young family lived in Spokane, Salt Lake City and a
few cities in southern California. Cass was transferred with the
Grants Co. to El Paso, Texas in 1963. After living there for three
years he took seriously ill and was not expected to live. The family
returned to Calgary in 1966 where he would renovate homes to
financially take care of his family.
In 1956 Cass and Lorraine adopted a beautiful baby girl they named
Debra Gail, and then a year and a half later, in 1957 they adopted
Debra’s half brother, a cute baby boy they named Robert Ernest.
In 1972 Cass and Lorraine moved to Taber and started a business
called CASS’ Family Restaurant. It was known for its ice cream
creations and hamburgers and steaks. Then in the late seventies he
moved to Lethbridge, then Calgary, then Thomson, Manitoba where he
managed large shopping malls.
Cass loved animals, especially dogs and horses. He and the Meyer clan
were avid golfers and often met for family golf tournaments in
Waterton. Cass loved to sing, play the organ, play the keyboard but he
was most famous for his love of the saxophone. He loved playing with
the Grassy Lake Oilers until his body was ravaged with Parkinson’s and
he could no longer lift his sax. For twelve years, every week he would
go to the Chinook Regional Hospital and serve the sacrament to any
Latter-day Saint that was sick and wanted that ordination. Then, if
requested, he would play the hymns on his melodeon for all to enjoy.
Cass loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and
boating. He loved to oil paint and would give one of his creations to
anyone who wanted one of his paintings and even to those who didn’t
want them. Cass and Lorraine were also snowbirds and went to Yuma
annually for a few years. Then he was diagnosed with Parkinson and the
disease took a hold of him.
His greatest joy was his family. He was very devoted to Lorraine.
Cass spoiled his daughter Judy and she was the light of his life. His
grandchildren were more like his own children than his grandchildren
and he helped raise them.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints and served in many positions, including counsellors in a couple
of bishoprics, as an ordinance worker at the Cardston Temple with his
wife Lorraine and branch president as he served a senior’s mission
with his wife in South Africa. He served under the same mission
president in South Africa as his grandson, Jack.
Everyone who met Cass loved him. He was kind, humorous, fun to be
around and had an even temperament. Cass loved to help people and
serve them.

NELSON, CODY MERLIN
Cody Merlin Nelson, beloved father, husband, son, brother, uncle, nephew, grandpa and friend, passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta on September 10 at the age of 53 after suffering a severe stroke.
Cody was born in Vulcan, Alberta and resided in Champion, Alberta for his entire life. He worked as a truck driver and had a passion for automobiles and motorcycles. He enjoyed watching numerous sporting events including hockey and baseball and took pride in watching his children perform their various activities.
Besides his loving wife Patricia, Cody is survived by his four children, Shanna, Kayla, Kirsten and Kolten, his grandchildren, Allysha, Madison, Alex and Cyrus, his father Carl Nelson, sisters Carla (David) Kennedy and Cynthia (Joel) Deans, brother Cole (Tracy) Nelson and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and extended family. He was predeceased by his mother Raema Nelson and his sister Carolyn Thompson.
Cody had a strong commitment to his family and truly treasured his time with family and friends. Although he is no longer with us, his memory and love will last forever in the hearts of all who knew him.
A celebration of Cody’s life will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 1:30 pm at the Champion Community Hall in Champion, Alberta. Pastor David Skinner will be officiating.

SINCLAIR
AL SINCLAIR beloved husband of Marilyn Sinclair of Lethbridge, passed away at Chinook Regional Hospital on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at the age of 81 years.
Besides his loving wife Marilyn, Al is remembered by two sons, John (Siarron) Sinclair of Calgary and Gabe Sinclair of Lethbridge. He is also survived by a special grandson Micheal Houghton of Lethbridge and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers Max and Bob as well as his parents Colin and Elizabeth.
Al was born December 5, 1933 in Maple Creek, SK where he was raised and educated. At the age of 16 years, Al had to go to work when his father passed away suddenly on Christmas Day. He began his career in trucking and construction. After marrying Marilyn Mills, Al returned to school and graduated with his #1 welding certificate. Al and Marilyn moved to Lethbridge in 1968. Al was employed at various locations including Dueck Excavating and Big D Excavating. When he retired at 65, Al spent a lot of summertime at improving his family cabin in the Cypress Hills. This is where he will be laid to rest.
Al enjoyed country music and playing the guitar. He was a very good dancer. When he was younger, Al boxed at the Maple Creek Boxing Club for over 8 years, winning many trophies and awards in Maple Creek, Swift Current and Moose Jaw.
Al was a friend to many especially those in the trucking business. He was a good husband and father who will be sadly missed.
A Celebration of Al’s Life will be held at the MCKILLOP UNITED CHURCH, 2329-15th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB at a later date and will be announced. In memory of Al, memorial donations may be made to Cypress Hills Park-Community Centre Fund, Box 2175, Maple Creek, SK, S0N 1N0.
