BRIAN BRADFORD PROVOST

(1960 – 2015)

It is with great sorrow that the family of Brian Bradford Provost announce his passing on Monday, November 23, 2015. Brian was born on March 10, 1960 in Pincher Creek to Mary Crow Eagle and Charles Provost.

Brian was the proud father of his five children; his three beautiful daughters: Neena (Lance) Yellow Face, Suzanne (Ashley) Crazy Boy, and Tia Big Plume; and his two handsome sons: Brian Jr. (Sunshine) and Tristan. He was also very proud of his grandchildren: Ayesha (Tye), Raven (Ryan), Cole, Wyatt, Chloe, Jayce, Mikayla and Brodi; and his special great grandchildren: Xaiden, Kylie, and Zavier and his loving wife Debbie One Owl; his loving siblings: Gilbert Provost, Geraldine Thunder Chief, Diane (Del) Healy, Charlene (Roger) Houghton, Debbie (Frank) Provost, Gloria Provost, Lucille (Robert) Provost, Chuck Provost and Charles (Bev) Provost and Eloise Provost; his numerous nieces and nephews and his adopted brother Darwin Short; and his first wife, Beverly Crazy Boy, the mother of his children.

A family service will be held at 5:00 pm on Thursday, November 26, 2015 at the Snodgrass Funeral Home in Pincher Creek. The two-day Wake will begin Thursday at 6:30 pm at the Gilbert Provost residence and continuing Friday, November 27, 2015. The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 28 at 11:00 am at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Brocket with Fr. Silvano Vargas, Celebrant. The interment to take place at the Provost Family plot, Brocket.

Carole Clarke

1939 – 2015

Carole Ann Clarke, passed away peacefully at the age of 76 on Tuesday, November 24, 2015, after battling with a chronic illness. She was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Stephen Glenn Clarke, who died in 1999. She leaves behind two loving daughters, Elizabeth and Catherine (Trent), as well as two beautiful granddaughters, Stephenie and Annabella.

Carole was born in Kingston, Ontario to the late Hugh and Isabel Milne on March 8, 1939. She grew up in a loving home with her older sister, Beverly, and three younger brothers, Robert, Michael and Brian. She graduated from Kingston General Hospital’s radiological technology program in 1962 and married her late husband in August of the same year. The couple lived with their two girls, who were born in 1963 and 1964, in Ontario for 13 years before relocating to Lethbridge, Alberta. In Lethbridge, Carole was an x-ray technologist at Family Medical Centre and Glenn was an economics professor at the University of Lethbridge.

For years, Carole was immersed in the city’s curling community, even becoming the president of the Lethbridge Curling Club in the 1990’s. It was at the curling club that Carole met her three best friends, Beth Campbell, Joyce Budau, and Ann Louise Plaxton, all of whom lovingly stood by her side throughout her challenging illness. Carole was also an active member of the Picture Butte Golf Club and the Lethbridge Host Lions Club.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00am on Monday, November 30, 2015 at the MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4 Street S. Lethbridge, Alberta, with Pastor George Takashima, officiating.

Vivian Cross

1933 – 2015

Precious mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and sister.

Born in Carmangay, Alberta on July 16, 1933 to Arthur and Myrtle Johnson.

Vivian was raised on the farm at Barrhill, Alberta. She attended school at the Barrhill School. She married Robert (Tiny) Cross on June 8, 1951. She lived and worked most of her life in Southern Alberta where she raised six children; Carolyn, Gary, Bob (Bonnie), Patty (Randy), Debbie (Randy) and Wayne (Tyla).

She has twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Her children and grandchildren were the most important thing in her life. She has always had the love and respect of each and every one of them. Her focus was not on material possessions, but rather on her family. Her family received her most prized possession of all – her love.

She was a talented artist, had an amazing green thumb and she loved her pets. She was straightforward, determined, and she lived her life with integrity.

She was predeceased by Arthur Johnson, Myrtle and Edgar Larsen, (Robert) Tiny Cross, Gary Cross and Wayne Cross.

We will miss you terribly mom, but you left us with this amazing legacy of determination and integrity that we were raised with and will continue to follow under your guidance in heaven.

You are our Shining Star, Rest in Peace.

Daphne Eccles

1955 – 2015

Ms. Daphne Eccles of Lethbridge, Alberta, passed away in Lethbridge on November 18, 2015 at the age of 60 years. She will be lovingly missed by her sister Carol (James) Tudor of Sylvan Lake, AB, her nephew Bryon (Amber) Tudor of Red Deer, AB, niece Leslie (Christian) Levac of Sylvan Lake, AB, and great niece Ella and great nephew Noah. Daphne was known to many for her kind and compassionate heart which was evident through her contributions as a blood donor for 35 years, as well as spending time volunteering with the Lethbridge HIV Connection Society. She also lived her life as a devoted animal lover and tattoo collector. A Memorial Celebration of Daphne’s life will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, December 5, 2015, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4th Street S. Lethbridge. John Henry Nast (1953-2015)

John passed away after a lengthy illness on November 17, 2015 at Chinook Regional Hospital at the age of 62.

John is survived by his wife, Barb (nee Markus); children Maureen (Regan), Patrick (Chantel), Edwin (Natalie), Scott (McKenna), Lisa (Brad), and Tyler (Kristi); five grandchildren; siblings Diane (Gerry), Brian (Marcy), Debbie (Tom), Joe (Darlene), and Randy (Roxann); mother-in-law Hazel; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born on August 14, 1953 in Estevan, SK, John spent his childhood on the family farm in Trossachs, SK. He moved to Lethbridge in 1976, and spent his career working for Beaver Lumber, MacMillan Bloedel, CanWel, and Don’s Drywall.

John could often be found tending to his yard, building something or visiting with neighbours. His green lawn was always the envy of the neighbourhood. He enjoyed playing the guitar and organ. John loved hockey and was a diehard Saskatchewan Roughriders fan.

John was predeceased by his brothers James and Ron, parents Fred and Maxine, and father-in-law Albert.

KOOLE

MARVIN WAYNE KOOLE, beloved husband of Mary Koole, of Lethbridge, AB, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the age of 74 years.

Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his son Marc (Simone Hambly) Koole of Calgary and their children Danielle and Regan Koole, and Marguerite (Eugene Ady) Koole of Saskatoon, SK.

Marvin was born in Lethbridge at the Galt Hospital and was raised and lived in the Monarch area. He farmed for most of his life until his retirement in 1995, when he enjoyed spending time with his family.

In respect of Marvin’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held.

Arthur Luck

1934 – 2015

It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Arthur Luck, beloved husband of Martha Luck, on Monday, November 23, 2015 after a lengthy battle with dementia.

Besides his loving wife Martha, Arthur is survived by his three girls and their families; daughter Marlies (Kevin), their children Kahla (Owen), Kohen, Melina (Leighton), daughter Monica (Luigi), her children Braden, Tanner, and daughter Elaine (Clayton) and her children Jaden and Kiara, as well as his brother Wiegand and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and their families.

Arthur was predeceased by his parents Adelgunde and Robert as well as his sister Eugeni all from Germany.

OSTAFICIUK

It is with great sadness that the family of NANCY FAY OSTAFICIUK (nee Horn), announce her passing on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the age of 91.

Nancy is survived by her son William (Mona) of West Kelowna and daughter Suzanne (Shane) of Strathmore; sister Lu of Barrhead; sister-in-law Victoria of Lethbridge; granddaughters Sheri (Mat) and Cindy; great-granddaughters Brynn, Amy and Jordan as well as nieces and nephews.

Nancy was predeceased by her son Lawrence (1971) in a military training accident and her husband of 66 years, William (2012).

Nancy was born in Rockyford, Alberta and grew up in the Barrhead area. In 1943, she enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force (WAC) and served until the end of WWII. Nancy met William in Calgary while they were waiting for delistment. They were married in 1946. William and Nancy moved to Taber where they established a farm machinery sales business. In 1950, they moved to the Ostaficiuk family farm, east of Vauxhall, where they raised three children in the healthy surroundings of the country. Nancy worked hard caring for her family, house and garden as well as working alongside William, making the farm a successful operation.

William and Nancy retired to Lethbridge in 1974. Although she missed the country, Nancy enjoyed her retirement years doing needle craft and gardening. She was an avid reader and kept her mind young and agile by doing puzzles of all kinds. Her favourite flowers always provided joy to her and delight to her neighbours. Her house was lovingly decorated with her many needlework projects. Nancy was rich with love from her family and friendship from all who knew her.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Saturday, November 28, 2015 from 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M.

ROSENFELT

JOHN MATTHEW ROSENFELT passed away Monday, November 23, 2015 at the Chinook Regional Hospital at the age of 88 years.

John was born February 24, 1927 and raised in the Meyronne District of Saskatchewan along with his 15 siblings. In 1947, John moved to Moose Jaw where he met Florence Harvey. They were married April 23, 1949. John and Florence moved to Lethbridge, Alberta in October of 1949. John was employed at sheet metal establishments and eventually took up business for himself in 1964.

John is survived by his wife Florence, sons; Bryan (Dana) and Barry, daughters; Linda Giovinazzo (Brian), Wendy Conine (Boyd) as well as 6 grandchildren and 5 great- grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents Mary and Adam Rosenfelt, most of his siblings and a daughter-in-law Elaine.

John enjoyed sports of all kinds and loved to bowl, golf and play crib.

The family would like to thank the staff at Fort Macleod Extendicare for their care and kindness to dad during the 8 years he was a resident there. They would also like to thank the staff and doctors on floor 4C at the Chinook Regional Hospital for their compassion and care.

To respect John’s wishes, a private family service will be held.

Gepke Slomp

1921 – 2015

The family and dear friends of Gepke Slomp (nee Koops) are saddened to announce that, on the evening of November 22, 2015 in Lethbridge, Alberta, Gepke went to be with her Lord and Saviour. She was just shy of her 94th birthday.

Gepke was born in the Smilde, Netherlands on November 28, 1921. She immigrated to Canada to marry Tim Slomp in Iron Springs, Alberta in 1949. They worked together on their farm in Coaldale until Tim’s passing in 1983. Gepke remained on the farm renting out her land until, after 62 years, she moved to Lethbridge in 2011. Gepke lived a contented life, by the grace of God. She enjoyed her evenings with her friends, playing games and socializing. She was a determined and hardworking woman, devoted to her Lord and her church.

Gepke was predeceased by her loving husband, Tim Slomp, brothers Dick, Wieger and Henk Koops, sister, Willemina (Mini) Joustra, in-laws, Henry & Grace Deunk, Evert Borkent and Henny Dronkelaar and Rolenius Joustra. She is survived by her brother, Harm Koops and sister, Reik Bouman and many nieces and nephews in Holland. Also surviving her is John Joustra (Anita, son’s Christopher, Jesse & Loren) of North Vancouver, B.C., Harry Joustra (Judy) of Kelowna, B.C. and Debbie Joustra-Pel (John Pel, Amanda, Elysha & Cameron) of Burnaby, B.C.. Gepke is also survived by sister-in-law, Jenny Borkent of Brooks, Alberta, brother-in-law John Slomp (Agnes) of Brooks, Alberta, Henry Dronkelaar of Picture Butte, Alberta and Henry Slomp (Willemien) of Picture Butte, Alberta and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by special friends, Gerrit & Norma Van Dewal, Casey Verschoor, Riet Scheffer and nephew John & Val Deunk

The family of Gepke would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Black Rock Terrace Senior’s Home, Alberta Ambulance Services, Chinook Regional Hospital Emergency Department. Special thanks to the Doctors and the nursing staff in ICU for their wonderful care during her short stay. We would also like to extend a special thank you to Riet Scheffer and Gerrit Van Dewal for their loving devotion to Gepke over the past years.
