ANDERSON

THOMAS (Ted) EDWARD ANDERSON, beloved husband of Sarah Jean Anderson, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 9, 2016 in Lethbridge, Alberta at the age of 84 years. He will be missed by his loving wife, “Sally”, his children: Eric (Michelle) Anderson of Calgary, Wendy (Rudy) Durieux of Olds, Doran (Christine) Anderson of Lethbridge, and Gary (JinHee) Anderson of Lawrenceville, New Jersey. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Addie Anderson, and one granddaughter, Letitia Anderson, as well as a sister-in-law Larea Anderson, and three brothers-in-law, Ed Firth, Mickey Kovac and Craig Watson. He leaves behind his seven siblings: Freeda Kovac, Norma Firth, Ken Anderson, Jean Watson, Sharon (Mark) Wood, Richard (Gloria) Anderson, and Monty (Sharon) Anderson. Friends may meet the family on Friday, October 14 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge, or prior to the funeral service on Saturday at the church from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, MOUNTAIN HEIGHTS CHAPEL, 175 Rocky Mountain Blvd. West, Lethbridge with Bishop Sheldon McLachlan officiating. Interment to follow in the Cardston Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.


Greg Cronkhite

1980 – 2016

Mr. Greg Cronkhite of Lethbridge, Alberta, beloved son of Louella and Dave Cronkhite and brother of Rich Cronkhite, passed away suddenly at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, September 30, 2016 at the age of 36 years. DE JONG

CHRIS DE JONG, beloved husband of Vicki De Jong passed away at St. Michael’s Palliative Care facility in Lethbridge on Tuesday October 11th, 2016 at the age of 76 years. Chris is survived by his wife Vicki De Jong, his children Brian (wife Crystal and children Brandon, Cayley), Ron (wife Sandra and son Grant), and Darren; sisters Lamberdena De Jong, Joanne Veldman, Marlene Grinnell and brother Glenn De Jong, as well as their spouses and numerous nieces and nephews. Chris was predeceased by his parents Christian Sr. and Ida De Jong and brother David. Chris was raised in Nobleford, AB and lived on the family farm where he and Vicki then farmed for many years. He always enjoyed the outdoors, such as farming, fishing, skiing and being in the mountains. He also enjoyed visiting with many friends and relatives. He will be missed by his family & friends.

Visitation will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 – Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, on Sunday, October 16th from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

The funeral will be held at the MONARCH REFORMED CHURCH on Monday October 17th, 2016 at 1pm. Interment and a reception will follow.

MEAD

LAWRENCE “LARRY” ORMIE MEAD, passed away after a brief illness at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the age of 77 years.

He leaves behind his only son, Brad (Shari) and his grandsons Tyson & Colten Mead of Lethbridge, his son-in-law Patrick Vance (Dawn Lauer) of Lethbridge and granddaughter Tara-Lynn Vance (Wylee) from Pierceland, Sask., grandson Terry Vance (Courtnee) and his only great-granddaughter McKenna Conway-Vance of Lethbridge, his brother Jack (Bev) Mead of Vernon, B.C., and sister Penny (John) Oczkowski of Pincher Creek, as well as many nieces & nephews.

He was predeceased by his only daughter Nancy Lynn Vance in 2009, his father Lawrence Mead 1967, and his mother Penny Mead 2002.

Dad was born April 19, 1939 and raised in Lethbridge. He started his career as an RCMP officer, then as Chief of Police in Coaldale. He later moved on to be a Lethbridge Firefighter for many years. Life and opportunity took him to a career in Securities in Las Vegas, Nevada for several years. He later moved on to Phoenix, AZ., then back to Lethbridge where he was a Director of Maintenance & Security with the Chinook Regional Hospital. He spent the next number of years between Phoenix, AZ. with careers in Hospital & Healthcare Security and finally back to Lethbridge permanently in 2006.

He loved horses & many family pets. He had a particular passion for horses and participated as a chuckwagon driver for several years in the Calgary Stampede. His tarp sponsor was Perlich Bros. Action Market. He also ran his own thoroughbred racehorses at the Racetrack; his two favorites were Sharp Poppa & Naptown.

He also worked for the Alberta Racing Commission as a track Steward for several years.

He knew many people over the years and could always be seen giving you the thumbs up!

Thanks you to all his support at The Good Samaritan Society, the Chinook Regional Hospital and all his doctors, nurses and teams over the past year.

At Larry’s request, no formal funeral service will be held.

ROHOVIE

It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of ROSE ROHOVIE at the Fairmont Extendicare on Friday, October 7, 2016 at the age of 95 years.

She leaves to mourn her beloved husband of 73 years, Daniel; daughter, Dianne (Thomas) Hansen; granddaughters, Sherri Oliver and Lisa Bosch; six great-grandchildren: Danneil (Travis) Broadbent, Courtney (Kade) Jensen, Michael and Nathan Oliver, Matthew and Brady Bosch; special family: David (Cheryl) Rohovie, Wayne Bosch, Yvonne (Murray) Mills, Glen Oliver and Dean Savage; sisters and brothers-in-law: Sylvia (John) Marshall, Mary Leister, Helen (Albert) Ferenz, Margaret Rohovie, Kay Biholar and Eleanor Biholar as well as many nieces and nephews.

Rose was predeceased by her parents, Ioana and Casian Biholar; infant siblings, Maria, Onofrei and Domnica; brothers John and George Biholar, sisters and their spouses, Flora (Bill) Paulence and Helen (Bob) Topham; and brothers-in-law, Fred Leister and John Rohovie.

Rose was born on February 1, 1921 in Regina, Saskatchewan where she was raised and educated. It was in Regina where she met her husband Daniel while he was stationed there with the Royal Canadian Air Force. They were married in 1943 then moved to Lethbridge where they made their home. Rose worked at the Galt Hospital and later continued her career as a secretary and bookkeeper for Sven Ericksen’s Restaurant until her retirement.

Rose was a kind, gentle and quiet lady with an unwavering faith and a great love for her family. She was respected and loved by all who knew her. Rose took great pride in her home and visitors were always met with a welcoming smile. She loved having family dinners and always took time to bake cookies for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rose and Dan had many friends who they enjoyed dining and dancing with over the years. They loved travelling which included adventures within Canada, to Europe, Hawaii and Mexico.

Rose will be sadly missed by her family and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

A Private Graveside Service will be held at MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY.

A Memorial Reception will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Friday, October 14, 2016 from 3:00 to 4:30 P.M.

Cornie Loewen
1926 – 2016
Cornelius Peter Loewen, beloved husband of Frances Loewen, passed away in Taber on Monday, October 10, 2016 at the age of 89 years.

Besides Frances, his loving wife of sixty two years, he is survived by their children Sheryl (Anthony) Duncan of Airdrie and their family Breanne Duncan and Andrea (Justin) Reimer; Gordon (Phyllis) Loewen of Vauxhall and their family Courtney Loewen, Bryan Loewen, Nicole (Nathan Pauls and Taralynn (Jeramy) Block; Charlene (Colin) Musgrove of Brooks and their family Melissa (Travis) Lutes, Devon Musgrove and Lindsey Musgrove. He is also survived by great grandchildren Kaden and Morgan Pauls and Hunter and Cheyenne Lutes; sister Sue Coles, sisters-in-law Burnita Loewen, Agnes Loewen and Betty Loewen; foster daughter Janie Monaghan and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Marie Loewen, numerous siblings and in-laws and by foster daughter Marie Valgardson.
Cornie was born October 29, 1926 in Didsbury. As a child, he moved to Rosemary. He worked in the Duchess area before moving to Calgary. He married Frances Husty on January 15, 1954. He worked as a bus driver for Calgary Transit before moving to Vauxhall in 1970. Cornie owned Loewen’s Foods and the Vauxhall Trading Company in Vauxhall. Later driving truck and working at the Bow River Irrigation District. He was very active in the community, especially with the Lions Club and enjoyed camping and travelling. He treasured his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In 2001 health issues slowed him down but he was still active in the Senior’s Centre and the Parkview United Church.
