Betty Bourassa
1933 – 2017
Betty Bourassa, beloved wife of Henry Bourassa, quietly passed away in Taber with family by her side on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at the age of 83 years.
Betty is survived by her best friend and husband Henry, daughter Gay (Ken) Jensen of Cardston, son Kim Bourassa of Lethbridge and daughter Sharon (Lou) Tams of Taber; eight grandchildren Jody (Ben) Nish, Wade (Sue) Jensen, Megan (Sal) Quinonez, Murray Bourassa, Chris Tams (Emalea Materi), Brandon (Lauren) Tams, Amanda (Travus) Valgardson and Matthew Tams as well as sixteen great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her grandson Travis Henry David Bourassa.
Betty  was a woman full of laughter and kindness. Her husband and family were the most important things in her life, and she loved us all so much. Betty loved to play crib and was lucky enough to get a “twenty nine” hand. Mom enjoyed crosswords, crocheting and a good practical joke. We all looked forward to our phone call on our birthdays where she sang to us “Happy Birthday”. She loved to travel with dad and they spent many happy times together on their adventures, never having to have the radio on in the car, as they always had lots to talk about. They truly were best friends and the love they shared was apparent to all. They were a great example to all the family of what a marriage should be. It was hard for her to leave dad, but we know she will wait patiently for him, so they can be together again.
A private celebration of Betty’s life will be held. Condolences may be forwarded by visiting our website at http://www.southlandfuneral.com.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Betty’s name may be made directly the charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements in care of Southland Funeral Chapel, Taber. Telephone: (403) 223-8778.

DEMERS

DEMERS, JEAN WILFRED (JOHN), died peacefully on April 8, 2017 at the age of 64 in Nelson, B.C. after a brave battle with cancer. He spent the better part of his life in the Nelson area where he could indulge his passion for geology and prospecting. After working on the maintenance crew for the C.P.R. for several years, he was finally able to wander the hills and mountains of the interior of B.C. John collected semi precious gems and other interesting rocks which he polished and turned into jewelry. During those years, he held various positions with several mining companies and spent a winter with the Diavek Diamond mine in the NWT. Less than a year ago, John travelled to Iceland where he fulfilled a lifelong dream to explore the volcanoes and unique geology of that country.

Although he enjoyed a mostly solitary life, John still had time for his many friends and family both in and around Nelson and in Lethbridge where he was raised and received his schooling. He had the soul of a philosopher and the heart of a mountain man and will be missed by his sisters; Louise McTaggart (Don) near Edson, Alberta; Jocelyne Edwards of Lethbridge, Alberta; and Carole Demers (Wade Hutchins) of Fort Macleod, Alberta. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as aunts and uncles.
