Gordon “Gord” Gast

August 9, 1951 – June 14, 2017

Mr. Gordon Gast of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Lynn Gast and father to Quinten Gast and Cory Gast passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at the St. Michael’s Palliative Care Centre from complications of multiple myeloma at the age of 65 years. Besides his wife and sons, Gordon is survived by his grandchildren Brittany, Storm, Braedon and Armoni Quincy Rose. Family and Friends are invited to pay their respects between 7:00pm and 8:00pm on Monday, June 19, 2017 at the MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 Street S., Lethbridge, AB. A Private family interment will be held in the Raymond Temple Hill Cemetery at a later date. Special thanks to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre for all the care they gave Gord.

HULL

CATHERINE EURWEN (PRITCHARD) HULL, beloved wife of the late Norman Leslie Hull, passed away in Cardston and returned to live with her loving Heavenly Father on Thursday, June 15, 2017, at the age of 94 years. Catherine was predeceased by her husband Norman; her parents Hugh and Annie Pritchard; one little sister, Gwyneth and three brothers: Evion, Robert and Emyr and one granddaughter, Rebecca. She is survived by one brother, Arvon (Rose), one sister Gwen, three sisters-in-law; Marlene, Joy, and Rose; twenty four grandchildren, seventy two great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren. Catherine and Norman spent the majority of their married life on their farm west of Cardston where they raised five children: Ann Lutz, Elwyn, Robert (Lorraine), Glenys (David) Murray, and Jean-Marie (Ron) Schow. Catherine was active in her church and community and served in many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Cardston Hospital. She was an ardent genealogist, having searched out many of her Welsh progenitors. Writing was her passion and she enjoyed participating in writers’ workshops and in contributing to various newspapers including the Lethbridge Herald as the Cardston Correspondent for many years. She was a kind, loving, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be greatly missed. ‘till we meet again!

The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cardston Alberta Stake Center (338 – 5th Avenue East), on Saturday, June 24th, at 11:00 a.m.

Friends may meet the family from 10:00 to 10:45 am prior to the service. Interment to follow in the Cardston Cemetery.

MANNINGTON, David Lorne March 2, 1945 – June 15, 2017

It is with sad hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Dave Mannington, age 72, on Thursday, June 15, 2017 after a short but courageous fight with cancer. Dave was born in Wales; grew up in the Coaldale area of Alberta; and spent most of his adult life in Calgary. He was a kind, honest and gentle soul who loved his family and always treated people fairly. He had a passion for the outdoors – running, hiking, backpacking, camping, scuba diving – and spent countless hours walking urban trails with his best friend Goldie. Dave will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Goldie; daughter Paula (Denis); son Perry; two grandsons, Merrick and Delano; sisters-in-law Claudia (Bob), and Kathy; brother-in-law Gerald (Char); step-brothers Doug (Thelma), Duane (Pat), and Ray as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and dear friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Jeanetta and Eric; brother Bob; Grandma Hunter, brother-in-law Clem, and step-sister Lorna. Dave will be deeply missed by all he knew and touched. MURFIN

Stuart William Murfin aka “Beef” passed away June 10, 2017, age 59, after a short battle with COPD and a heart problem. He leaves behind his wife, Rose, of 37 years, daughters Vanessa (Jesse) and Kimberly (Turc), and grandchildren: Henry, Finn, Soda, and Zeph. He is also survived by sisters Shirley (Bob) Gamble, Judy Ferguson, and Barb (Louis) Patterson as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Stu was born on February 4, 1958 and resided in Pincher Creek most of his life. He is predeceased by his parents Bob and Joan Murfin, brother Doug Murfin and brother-in-law Carl Ferguson. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at 3:00 pm at Snodgrass Funeral Home (1101 Main Street, Pincher Creek, AB).

Dorie Williams
1934 – 2017
Doris Ruth Williams (nee Linstead), beloved wife of the late Vern Williams, passed away in Taber on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at the age of 82 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the church prior to the funeral service on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 between 10:00 A.M. and 10:40 A.M.

Dorie will be fondly remembered by her four children Vicki (Ray) Gardner of Taber, Paul (Janice) Williams of Lethbridge, Joel Williams of Edmonton and Jon (Barb) Williams of Edmonton. She will hold a special place in the hearts of her ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, brother Delbert (Marilyn) Linstead as well as numerous other family members and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Vern in 2012 sisters Helen Stanland and Shirley Cossitt, brother Bruce Linstead.
Dorie was born in Gormley, Ontario on July 6, 1934. She was the third of five children born to Delbert and Winnifred Linstead. She grew up on a farm, frightened by the animals she enjoyed spending her time reading while perched up in her favorite tree. Dorie started working at a young age and delighted in spending her money on shoes and clothing. She met Vern and the two eloped. They started their family together; Dorie loved her babies and made them her priority. Many fond memories were made on family vacations together. Both Dorie and Vern loved music and enjoyed dancing together as well as with their children.
In 1975 the family relocated from Ontario to Lethbridge after most of the children were raised, where they pursued various business ventures. Dorie was a stay at home mom until most of the children were raised. She then took a job at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital. Dorie, Vern and Jon moved back to Ontario living in Etobicoke. They later returned to Alberta, choosing to live in Taber to allow them to be closer to their children and grandchildren. While in Taber, Dorie worked at the Taber Denture Clinic, the Health Connection and Safeway. Finally Vern and Dorie settled in Lethbridge where they spent the remainder of their time together. Dorie loved quilting, journaling, singing, reading, walking and watching musicals. She was passionate about genealogy and loved searching through records to learn about her family history. Dorie had a love for all things British and you could always count on her if you needed/wanted a mint. She was an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan. Dorie enjoyed travelling and went to many countries including the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal and Morocco. She always supported her grandchildren, enjoyed spending time with them and could often be heard talking about their talents and accomplishments.

A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at ST. BASIL’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 604 13 Street North, Lethbridge, AB on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. with Father Kevin Tumback, Celebrant.
