CHIPMAN

IRIS FULLMER CHIPMAN passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 85 years of age. She was born on March 1, 1932 in Cardston, Alberta, the fourth child of Heber Melvin Fullmer and Alice Linnie Hartley. She married Mark Duane Chipman on June 30, 1955. Mark and Iris have 5 children, 13 grandchildren and 6 great- grandchildren.

She leaves behind her children, Shauna (Brent) Clifton, Robert (Shari) Chipman, Drew (Shiela) Chipman and Gillian French, and her loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband Mark and daughter Sheila Maureen.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days of Saints. Although she held many callings in the church, her most cherished experiences and memories are of teaching gospel doctrine classes and giving service by playing the piano and organ on many occasions.

The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday September 4, 2017 at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, RAYMOND STAKE CENTRE, 2N 200W, Raymond, Alberta.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family from 12:30 – 1:45 pm prior to the funeral service at the church.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Diane Lynn Clark on August 23, 2017. Born August 19, 1954 in Lethbridge, Diane was known for her love of gardening, music, baking, and card games. She is survived by daughter Aurora (Amanda), sister Shirley, and brothers Wayne (Dawn) and Brent (Bev), as well as nieces and nephews. Diane was predeceased by her parents Marie and Doug. A private service will be held to celebrate Diane’s life on Saturday, September 2. Donations may be made in honour of Diane to the Canadian Mental Health Association.

HINMAN

Scott Hinman, beloved husband of Kathryn Hinman of Calgary, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2017 at the age of 66 years. Scott was a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Calgary from 1983-2016, and had also been a licensed motor mechanic from 1971-1975. He loved playing and collecting acoustic and electric guitars, rebuilding tube amplifiers, riding and collecting motorcycles, woodworking, walking the paths of Calgary, wildflowers, and cooking. Scott obtained his B.Sc. in 1980 from the University of Lethbridge and his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry in 1983 from the University of Alberta. Scott is survived by his wife Kathryn Hinman; daughters, Pamela Hinman (Garrett Knecht) of Toronto, and Patricia (Derek) Groves of Medicine Hat; son Schuyler Hinman (Landis Golding) of Calgary; brother Philip (Diana) Hinman of Lowbanks, ON; sisters, Narda (Stephen) Dudley of Salt Lake City, UT, and Lori (Larry) Leavitt of Lethbridge, AB; brother-in-law Mark Nelson of Lethbridge, AB; and numerous nephews and nieces. Memorial Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home. Elizabeth (Betty) Jeanne Rose (Cunningham) Waldern

1931 – 2017

Mrs. Elizabeth (Betty) Jeanne Rose (Cunningham) Waldern, a long and faithful soldier of The Salvation Army, was “Promoted to Glory” to be with God on Thursday, August 24, 2017. Born on July 26, 1931 in the Galt Hospital, the sixth and youngest child of Leo and Harriet Cunningham. The family originally lived on an acreage in Coaldale and at the age of five months moved to an acreage on the outskirts of Lethbridge, in what is now the Lakeview area. At two years of age, they moved “to the city” and Lethbridge has been home ever since. Mom gave of herself in service to others, whether it be to family or community. Seniors and senior concerns were a passion for her. She was instrumental in a number of senior organizations: the Lethbridge Pensioners and Senior Citizens, later the Chinook Pensioners and Senior Citizens, the Alberta Pensioners and Senior Citizens and the National Pensioners and Senior Citizens Federation. She served in leadership roles of these organizations, often as Secretary or President. For a great number of years, she was instrumental in church ministry to senior’s lodges and nursing homes. In our community, she served on the Landlord and Tennant Advisory Board and was the founding President of Lethbridge Lifeline Association. Having a special needs daughter, she became involved as a volunteer and coach with Special Olympics. In 1980, she was presented a certificate by the City of Lethbridge in appreciation for her generous and unselfish way in which she had rendered valuable service for the betterment of our community. She will be remembered as a loving Mother who was always there for her family. As the grandchildren and great grandchildren arrived, she became known as Nana and was instrumental in their young lives. Elizabeth was predeceased by her mother Harriet and father Leo; brothers, “Slim”, Leslie and John Cunningham; sisters, Verna Moe and Josephine Cunningham; and daughter Donna Waldern. As well, by a very dear and special friend Norma St. Dennis. She is survived by her son Gerald and daughter-in-law Pamela Waldern; grandchildren Jerry (Pam) Waldern and Bonnie Wilson; great-grandchildren, Wesley, Justin and Marcus Waldern; and Grace Wilson, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and Friends are invited to a Visitation at 7:00pm on Friday, September 1, 2017 at the MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 Street S., Lethbridge, Alberta. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at THE SALVATION ARMY COMMUNITY CHURCH, 1302 – 4 Avenue S., Lethbridge, Alberta, with Captains Ben and Isobel Lippers officiating. 1945 – 2017

Mr. William ‘Peter’ Walshe of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away at Extendicare Michener Hill on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at the age of 72 years, two days after his birthday. Peter was born on August 25, 1945 at Fort McLeod, Alberta. He worked for twenty-four years in the Financial Industry, retiring his career at AFSC January 1, 2012. Peter married Lila Miller October 3, 1970 in Wainwright, Alberta. Peter will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lila Walshe of Red Deer, Alberta; his children, Tami (Rod) Johnson of Sylvan Lake, Alberta and Sean (Heidee) Walshe of Lethbridge, Alberta; and five grandchildren. He will also be sadly missed by his sisters, Margaret Ann Holmes of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and Fran (Joseph) McLellan of Devon, Alberta; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Peter was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Margaret Walshe, a sister, Jean Vandewark and a granddaughter, Christina Walshe.
