On Mother’s Day, May 14, 2017, Michael was diagnosed with a mixed germ cell tumor located on his brain stem that was inoperable. He went through chemo and a debulking surgery as well as two further surgeries for shunts. He was the bravest little boy. He attended R.I. Baker Middle School in Coaldale, where he was loved by his teachers and friends.

Michael grew up on an acreage. He loved animals and as of late, really connected with his German Shepherd. Michael loved being outdoors, riding his bicycle, unicycling, skateboarding, RipStiking and snowboarding. Michael also loved woodworking, building things with Lego and solving the Rubik’s Cube. His last project was building a fidget spinner. Michael was especially close to his youngest niece, Aurora and she will dearly miss her special time with him.

Michael had a contagious smile, a great sense of humour and a heart of gold. He was intrigued by cars and knew them all by name. He also loved travelling, having visited Disneyland and SeaWorld in California, numerous countries in Europe and Hawaii.

Michael loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus. He wanted to attend church every opportunity he had. Michael also loved to be involved with his church youth groups.

Our family does not have enough words to express our thanks to everyone who has supported us through this difficult journey: Our family, friends and church family, Burger Baron, the Lethbridge Bulls, Street Wheelers Car Club, Alvin Reinhart Fritz Architect Inc., Green Haven Tree Farm, Ashcroft Master Builders, H Bar Rock, Murray Farms, Panda Flowers, R.I.
