JOHN TERRANCE SMITH

1924 -2017

John T. Smith of Raymond, Alberta, beloved husband of Norma Litchfield Smith, passed away at the Raymond Health Centre on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the age of 92 years.

FINNERTY

(1915-2017)

ELSIE FINNERTY passed away on Sunday, October 22nd, 2017 at the age of 102 years.

She was born in Brouse, B.C. and moved to Coaldale and then to Lethbridge. She had a great sense of humor and was a special woman with many talents. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, darts, bowling, clogging, playing cards, bingo, camping, and golf. She was an extremely good cook and loved making jams as well as did lots of canning.

Elsie was predeceased by her husband, Jack Finnerty, two daughters, Mary Ann Shiels and Arlene Bedster, as well as her special friend Walt Hartman.

She is survived by her sons, Jack Finnerty Jr. (Audrey Alexander), Art (Carol Ann) Bedster, and her son-in-law Tom Shiels. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Brenda (Warren) Funk, Michelle, Arlene, Mike Bedster, Troy Finnerty; great-grandchildren Crystal (Justin) Neels, Kyle Levenne, Warren Jr., Ashley & Brittany Funk; great-great-grandchildren Jordan, Meeya, Kingsley and Payson, as well as numerous nephews & nieces and special friends Allen & Patsy Hartman.

Elsie will be laid to rest with her husband in Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge during a private service.

The family thanks all the staff at Park Meadow’s Village for taking such good care of Elsie.

MCKAY, ARLENE JOAN

September 4, 1942 –

October 20, 2017

Arlene Joan McKay, beloved wife of the late Jim McKay, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, October 20, 2017 at the age of 75 years. Born on September 4, 1942, she went on to live her entire life in Lethbridge, raising a family and enjoying a long career in the communications industry. She later worked at St. Michael’s Health Centre where she developed many friendships and enjoyed interacting with the residents there.

Arlene was known for her outgoing, friendly personality and her kind and caring nature. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, sister and aunt, and her family was her greatest source of pride and joy. Being able to keep in touch with family and friends online was a favourite activity and brought her much happiness.

Arlene was vibrant, funny, consistently optimistic and repeatedly proved herself to be resilient and fiercely determined. She will be sorely missed by all that knew her.

Arlene will be lovingly remembered by her children Kathie Taylor, Judy (Dale) Chumley and Darin McKay; grandchildren Clayton and Alex Chumley and Jaydon and Shelby McKay; siblings Bob Williams, Janice (Larry) McNeill, Dianne (Dave) Pearce and their families. She also leaves behind many friends and her beloved Yorkie, Sass. She was predeceased by her husband Jim McKay in March 2014 and by her parents Bush and Gwynne Williams.

In accordance with Arlene’s wishes, a Private Family Memorial will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada – #200, 119 – 14 Street N.W., Calgary, AB, T2N 1Z6.

Patricia “Pat” Hughes

1926 – 2017

Mrs. Patricia “Pat” Hughes of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Maldwyn “Mallie” Hughes, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the age of 91 years. A Celebration of Pat’s Life will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 Street South, Lethbridge, with Reverend Trevor Potter, officiating. A Private family graveside service will be held in the Mountain View Cemetery.
