Maylon “Marlene” Anderson

1954 – 2018

Mrs. Maylon “Marlene” Anderson nee Yee of Lethbridge, beloved wife of Mr. Dave Anderson, passed away at Chinook Regional Hospital on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at the age of 63 years. Marlene was born in Lestock, Saskatchewan and adopted by Sue Yin (Fred) and Eam Young (Francis) Yee. She grew up in Lethbridge on a pig and vegetable farm with her parents and uncle Jackson Lee. She met Dave, her husband of 44 years, at the age of 15. Sparks flew, and at the age of 20, they were married and baby #1 was on the way. Besides her loving husband Dave, Marlene is survived by her 2 daughters Tammy and her kids Sharon and Brett; and Angie and her kids Tatum and Chase. She is also survived by her grandson Branden and his girlfriend Mackenzie. Marlene loved being a great granny to Sylis, Dayton and one on the way. Also survived by her sister Linda; sister-in-law Dianne; 2 brothers-in-law Rob and Brian; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Marlene was predeceased by her parents Sue Yin and Eam Young Yee; in-laws Archie and Alice Anderson; and her son David Anderson. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 1:00pm and 1:45pm on Monday, March 12, 2018 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4th Street South, Lethbridge, AB. BOYD

Mrs. Gaitanne Boyd, passed away peacefully at Fairmont Extendicare on Monday, March 5, 2018 at the age of 92 years. She was predeceased by her first husband A.E LaBelle and second husband Chris A. Boyd; her mother & father; two sisters; two brothers; her daughter Claudette and Claudette’s husband Ben La Rose. Left to mourn are her children Fay La Belle, Theresa & Bob Baumstark, Yvonne & Gordon Myers, Marcel & Pam La Belle, Elaine & Rolland Jobin, Gloria & Pat Kennedy; her chosen sons Leslie & David (Madonna) La Belle, Norman (Nella) La Belle; as well as 33 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:30pm on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the CHURCH OF CHIMES, 2606 16 Ave S, Lethbridge, AB. An Interment of ashes will take place at a later date in Salmon Arm, BC.

With heavy hearts, the family of Helen Christine Delaney announce her passing on March 3rd, 2018 at the age of 81. She is predeceased by her parents, Hans and Magda Thomsen, her older brother Eric, and granddaughter Erin.

She is survived by her loving husband Dennis Delaney, her devoted children, Michael (Lynda), Terrence, and Linda, siblings Martha, Dan, and Karin, her 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

LAMBERT

ELLEN MARIE LAMBERT, beloved wife of Emile Lambert of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at home on March 1, 2018 at the age of 80 years.

Besides her loving husband, Ellen is survived by her children, Brian (Lori) Lambert of Blackfalds, David (Wilma) Lambert of Lethbridge, Gwen (Kevin) Cameron of Brooks and Joan (Reg) Hill of Calgary, as well as her ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two sisters, two brothers and numerous extended family members.

Ellen was a loving wife and mother, and was a very dear friend to all who knew her. She would lend a hand or an ear to whomever needed it and always put others before herself. The love she had for her family and friends was unconditional and endless. She also enjoyed music, dancing and reading.

A Celebration of Ellen’s Life will be held at PARKBRIDGE ESTATES, 2920 – 29 Street South, Lethbridge, AB on Saturday, March 10, 2018 from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.

MCDONALD

SUSAN CHARLOTTE (EDMUNDS) MCDONALD passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Tuesday March 6th, 2018.

She was predeceased by her husband and best friend George William McDonald and their firstborn son, Mark Edmunds McDonald. She leaves behind her 4 living children: Laura-Lynne (Robert) Boehme, David (Heather Harris) McDonald, Chantelle (Rick) Davidson, and Natasha McDonald, along with her 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grand babies.

She will also be greatly missed by her 3 living sisters, Karen (Brian) Erickson, Marsha Edmunds and Kathryn (Dennis) Milner, and many good friends.

Susan’s gentle and selfless nature has touched many lives and we invite those who loved her to a Celebration of Her Life on Saturday, March 10th, 2018 at 11am at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, Northside Chapel (2213 6 A Ave N). MILLAR, Lillian

Lillian passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the age of 87, following a very brief illness.

She leaves behind her children: Michelle (Allan) Jacobs, Murray (Karen) Millar and Lavonne (Neil) Herbst; her son-in-law Steve Webb; her grandchildren: Andrew (Mirta), Alex (Charm), Alyson, McKensie, and Cassandra; and her great-grandson Nathanial. Lillian was predeceased by her husband Ivan in 2009, her brother Edgar in 2012, and her daughter Sharon Webb in 2016.

Lillian was born in Fort Macleod on November 29, 1930 to Rose (Lemire) and Omer Diamond. She graduated from high school in Blairmore and went on to obtain her teaching certificate from the University of Alberta. After several years of teaching, Lillian met and married the love of her life, Ivan Millar. They soon settled in Lethbridge to work and raise their family.

Lillian was a teacher, a real estate agent and most notably, an unsung volunteer with many, many organizations. Lillian was a voracious reader, she loved to paint and write and was very interested in world events. Lillian touched many lives with her compassion, kindness and patience. She will be remembered for her quick wit, positive outlook on life and the ability to make us all feel we were the most important person in the world.

Stanley “Rufus” Johnson

March 2, 1949 – February 26, 2018

Stanley “Rufus” Johnson passed away quietly at his Vancouver home on Monday, February 26, 2018 at the age of 68. He is survived by his brother, Mitch Zubray of Barrie, Ontario. Rufus was pre-deceased by his father, George and his mother, Helen. Rufus was born and raised in Lethbridge, Alberta. He attended LCI High School then went on to graduate Summa Cum Lately at the Elmo Jenkins Improvisational Academy. Among his many friends, Rufus is best remembered as a sentimental songwriter, an entertaining and patient guitar player and a talented mime of inanimate objects. The spreading of his ashes and a Celebration of Life will take place in the Lethbridge area at a future date to be determined.


THIELEN

HERBERT “HERB” THIELEN, of Coutts, beloved husband of Jean Thielen, passed away peacefully at the Milk River Health Centre on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at the age of 87 years.

Besides his loving wife of 64 years, Jean, he is survived by his children Reenie Bye, Bonny (Bob) McPhillips, Bob (Sharlene) Thielen, Janine (Marcus) Fischer, Kelly (Scott) MacCumber, his twelve grandchildren, his seven great-grandchildren and his sister Evelyn Lodermeier.

He was predeceased by his infant son Tommy, his parents Peter and Rose Thielen, his son-in-law Griff Bye, his brothers Edmund and Jerome, his sister Adeline Dixon, as well as father-in-law and mother-in-law John and Sally Blackmer.

Herb was born February 15, 1931 in Allerston, AB on the family farm. He began farming as a young boy with his father and continued farming with his son Bob and grandson Brent. In his heart, he never retired from farming, and his knowledge and opinion were always sought and valued right up until his last days.

While raising their family and farming together, Herb and Jean enjoyed activities such as curling, pinochle and gardening. He was a devoted and loving father and grandfather whose grandchildren were very special to him. He loved watching them grow and providing them with support. He was also an excellent – sometimes overzealous – cheerleader at various sporting events. Herb enjoyed playing sports in his younger years and spectating in his later years. He especially loved baseball and was a huge fan of the New York Yankees.

Faith was very important to Herb. He served on Parish council, was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus and helped build the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Coutts.

Herb was a caring, generous and kindhearted man who took great care of everyone around him and always put others first. As he grew older, those he cared for so much throughout the years started to take care of him, and he accepted that transition with an incredible amount of grace. He will be missed by all.

A Prayer Service will be held at ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 321 Main Street, Milk River, AB, on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at 7:00 P.M. with Father Benedicto Tugano IV officiating.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Benedicto Tugano IV celebrating.

A Private Family Interment will be held at the Coutts Cemetery.

Herb’s family would like to thank Dr. Pieter Krog and all of the staff at the Milk River Health Centre, as well as Dr. Aaron Low and Dr. Ernie Janzen for their excellent care.

TOKAI

STEVE TOKAI, husband of Brigitta Tokai, of Picture Butte, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, March 2, 2018 at the age of 89 years.

Steve is survived by his wife of 61 years Brigitta; his son Donald (Theresa) Tokai and their daughter April; his daughter Joyce (Jim) Graham and their children Mitch, Blair (Vicki), Stefanie, Shawn and Reed; his daughter Darlene (Ross) Doenz and their children Cody and Kara (Kyle); his son Glenn Tokai and his children Mackenzie and Blake; his sisters Mary (Eddie) Davies and Elizabeth Davies, and his brother Joe (Shirley) Tokai.

He was predeceased by his grandson Grant Tokai, his sisters Bernadette Nagy, Margret Tokai, and his brother Gabor Tokai.

Steve was born July 18, 1928 in Hungary. At the early age of 8 months, he and his parents Gabor and Barbara moved to Canada. Initially, Steve lived in Hillspring, but eventually moved to Picture Butte where he grew his passion for farming. He was a sugar beet farmer as well as a beef producer, and had a tremendous love of the farm life.

A Celebration of Life will be held at COUNTRY KITCHEN CATERING, located beneath The Keg at 1715 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 1:00 P.M.

WILEY

August 25, 1941 – March 5, 2018

KENNETH “KENNY” WILEY, 76, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on March 5, 2018 at Legacy Lodge. Cremation has since taken place.

Ken is survived by his longtime friend Sheila Finlay; his sons Troy (Lisa) Wiley and Terry Wiley; his grandchildren Amber (Kevin), Chace, Justin, Jordan, Stephanie and Branden; his great-grandchildren Olivia and Hudson who brought great joy to his life.

Also surviving Ken are his sisters June and Florence and predeceasing him were his brothers Ron and Merv.

At Ken’s request, no formal funeral service will be held. An interment of his ashes will take place a later date in Portage la Prairie, MB.
