The Lethbridge midget AAA Hurricanes lost a pair of games on the road during Alberta Midget Hockey League play on the weekend.
The Canes were edged 3-2 by the Sherwood Park J.Ennis Kings Saturday and downed 5-2 by the St. Albert Tire Warehouse Raiders on Sunday.
With the losses, the Hurricanes are 7-17-3 and one point behind the Medicine Hat SEAC Tigers in the Chrysler Division.
On Saturday, Brandyn Howg scored both Lethbridge goals — one in the first and the other in the third — before the Kings scored twice in the third period to secure the win.
Byron Fancy made 27 saves in the loss.
Howg added his third goal of the weekend in the third period of Sunday’s loss to St. Albert and Sean Thornton added the other Hurricanes goal.
Fancy was also in goal for the Canes on Sunday, making 20 saves.
After an extended time away from home, the Hurricanes will take the next two weeks away from league action, but return to Nicholas Sheran Arena Jan. 28 when they host the Calgary Foothills CFR Chemical Bisons.
