Cobras strike against the Sugar Kings

Nic Harder and Jean Pierre Otero Rodriguez each broke the 20-point mark as the Claresholm Willow Creek Cobras downed the Picture Butte Sugar Kings during Deep South Basketball Conference action Wednesday night.

Harder and Rodriguez each had 23 points as the Cobras posted a 119-46 win in Picture Butte.

Aaron Wutke contributed with 15 points for Willow Creek.

Ty Sakal led the Sugar Kings with 14 points and Austen Maslen and Skylar Black each had 10.

In the junior varsity game, Willow Creek won 75-43 as Aaron Wutke scored 24 points, Cole Dixon had 18 and Kenneth Borebor had 10.

For the Sugar Kings, Sebastian Boone led the way with 12 points.

In action Monday and Tuesday, the Coaldale Kate Andrews Pride boys basketball team won two games in as many days during Deep South Basketball Conference action.

The Pride headed to Stirling Tuesday and posted a 77-55 win and on Monday topped the Picture Butte Sugar Kings 76-70 in Coaldale.

In Tuesday’s win in Stirling, Parker Kasko led Kate Andrews with 16 points.

Colter Pavka and Laine Wilson added 14 and 13 points, respectively, for the Pride.

For the Lakers, Carson Sillito had 22 points and Brady Sillito chipped in with 14.

Wilson paced the Pride in Monday’s home win with 16 points, while Darren Larson also had a 16-point outing.

Andrew Thompson also hit double digits for Kate Andrews with 13 points.

Skyler Black led the Sugar Kings with 23 points, Kevin Witdouck hit for 13 and Jacob Thiessen added 12.

In the junior varsity game, Kate Andrews posted a 63-56 win.

Dalton Wiersema hit for 14 points for the Pride. Brandon Hall struck for 13 points for Kate Andrews and Zak Hetesy chipped in with 11.

Sebastian Boone and Callum Yanoksik led Picture Butte with 14 points each and Brant Reurink added 10.
