Minor Midget Hurricanes grab three points

The Lethbridge Headwater minor midget AAA Hurricanes came away with three of four points last weekend.

The Canes doubled up the Cochrane AC Avalanche 4-2 in Cochrane Saturday and battled to a 5-5 tie with the Calgary NWCAA Bruins on Sunday.

The 1-0-1 weekend improves the Hurricanes to 17-1-5, good for first place in the South Division.

Michael Horon scored twice for the Huricanes in the win over the AC Avalanche and Mason Sande and Carson Dyck added one each.

Logan Leroux made 12 saves in the win.

On Sunday, Daniel Anton had the hat trick for Lethbridge, while Horon and Sande added singles in a game which the Canes outshot the Bruins 48-25.

Carl Tetachuk and Leroux split the goaltending duties.

The Canes are at home for a pair this weekend at Nicholas Sheran Arena, starting Saturday with a rematch with the Bruins at 3 p.m.

The team caps off the weekend Sunday at noon against against the Leduc Techmation Oil Kings.
