The Lethbridge Bulls secured a double-header split and avoided a three-game losing skid in the process.
The Bulls downed the Fort McMurray Giants 7-6 during Western Major Baseball League action Saturday night in Fort McMurray.
With the win, the Bulls secured a 1-1 split following a 7-3 loss to the Giants in the first game Saturday afternoon, which came after a 14-1 drubbing the Bulls were handed by Fort McMurray Friday night.
With the win the Bulls are 8-4 on the season, tied with the Edmonton Prospects and Okotoks Dawgs for first in the Western Division.
In the second game Saturday, the Bulls scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to erase a 6-4 deficit and pull out the win.
That came after a four-run Bulls outburst in the sixth inning to come back from being down 3-0.
Blake MacDonald led the Bulls Saturday night, going 3-for-4 with one run scored, while Alex Bishop had a three RBI outing for 16 on the season.
Chris Stodolka took the win for the Bulls, throwing two innings and giving up two hits and no runs, walking two and striking out one.
In the first game Saturday, the Giants scored four runs in the first inning for enough offence to earn the win.
Bulls third baseman Dylan Borman went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI while leadoff hitter and shortstop Ryan Pouwells was 3-for-4.
Brady Moxham was tagged for the loss, going six innings and giving up seven runs on 10 hits, walking four and striking out three.
The teams wrap up the four-game weekend this afternoon at 2:05 p.m.
