Miners sweep the Chargers
Thanks to some extra pep at the plate, the Lethbridge Miners posted a pair of wins on Saturday.
The Miners defeated the Great Falls Chargers 9-3 during American Legion Baseball action in Great Falls and wrapped up a double-header sweep with a 20-7 decision.
With the wins, the Miners improve to 5-4 in Conference play.
“There has been a lot of improvement since the start of the season with the bats,” said Miners head coach Jared Ruff, whose team stays on the road Tuesday when they head to Medicine Hat to take on the Knights.
In the first game Saturday, Josh Oster had three hits, while Cale Moser, Levi abott and Dallas Demers each had two hits for Lethbridge.
Nathan Reiter went six innings for the Miners to earn the win, surrendering two hits and one earned run and striking out seven.
The Miners sticks remained hot in the second game as the team pounded out 16 hits in six innings to secure the 2-0 outing.
Skylar Vaselenak, Abbott and Mike Horon each had two hits and Abbott counted for four RBI with his two hits.
Jeremiah Bohnert took the win for Lethbridge with three scoreless innings of relief.
