After attending rookie camps, three members of the Lethbridge Hurricanes are off to NHL main camps beginning this weekend.
After a strong showing with the Edmonton Oilers rookies at the Young Stars Classic in Penticton last week, Canes goaltender Stuart Skinner is off to the team’s main camp.
Skinner, who also hails from Edmonton and will turn 19 in November, earned a shutout in the Oilers 3-0 win over the Winnipeg Jets Saturday night.
Skinner was drafted 78th overall in this year’s NHL entry draft.
Also off to main camps are Hurricanes forward Jordy Bellerive and defenceman Brennan Menell.
Bellerive, 18, who went undrafted this summer, was invited to the Pittsburgh Penguins rookie camp and earned an extended stay to the main camp.
Menell, 20, skated in the Minnesota Wild’s rookie camp and is also off to the main camp this weekend.
