Cardston wins Cougars battle

Cardston topped Catholic Central 96-74 in a battle of the Cougars in Southern Alberta 4A Boys Basketball League action Tuesday.

Ty Lewis led Cardston with 24 points while Tristan Infanti added 20, followed by Bryn Nelson and Taylor Barfuss with 14 and 13 respectively.

Shae Gibb led CCH with 17 points while CJ HIrsche had 16 points with Ben Hoveling and Nate Moreira adding 14 and 11 respectively.

Cardston downed CCH 68-46 in junior varsity play as Dennon Jensen scored 22 points and Mitch Olsen added 14, followed by Isaac Atwood with 11.

Cole Maryancik replied with 12 points for CCH while Raphael Batingal and Maguire Miller added 10 apiece.

Magrath Zeniths upended the Winston Churchill Bulldogs 103-80 as John Jones tossed in 25 points, followed by Taylor Cook and Mason Stock with 23 and 21 respectively. Paycen Blackmore added 17 points and Sam Payne had 15.

Isaac Greenwood led all scorers with 32 points in a losing cause while Ali Azimi added 10.

Churchill topped Magrath 61-53 in the JV game behind 23 points from Tymen Card and 12 from Polo Los Banos.

Colton Finck scored 17 points for Magrath and Taylor Harker added 14.

In Southern Alberta Girls Basketball League play, Raymond Comets remained undefeated as they doubled the Chinook Coyotes 90-45.

No scorers were available.

In other action, Cardston Cougars held off the LCI Clippers 72-69 as Hanna Nunn hit for 20 points while Haylie Holland and Madison Leishman added 14 and 10 respectively.

Jocelyn Neilson replied with 19 points for the Clippers while Maitlynn Miller added 18 and Berkley Heggie 14.

LCI edged Cardston 56-54 in the JV contest as Kya Bester scored 14 points while Maddi Boehme and Annah Westrop added 11 each.

Tenley Schaffer and Lauren Wolsey replied with 12 apiece for Cardston.

In a lone JV contest, Magrath Pandas defeated the Winston Churchill Griffins 69-32 as Lucy Wilde led a balanced scoring attack with 11 points and Elley Johnson added 10. All 10 Magrath players hit the scoresheet.

Grace Hatch scored 12 points in a losing cause.
