Canada Super 60 cricket league set to debut in October at B.C. Place Stadium

By Canadian Press on August 7, 2025.

VANCOUVER — The Canada Super 60 cricket league will debut Oct. 8 to 13 at Vancouver’s B.C. Place Stadium, organizers announced Thursday.

Super 60 matches last about 90 minutes with each team batting for 10 overs (60 balls), making for all-action contests with batsmen swinging for the boundary in search of runs. In contrast, the Global T20 Canada tournament, which debuted in Brampton, Ont., in 2018, features the 20-over version of the game.

Like Global T20 Canada, teams in the new league will be made up of Canadian talent, international stars and a quota of players from associate nations.

The Super 60 will showcase men’s and women’s competition.

“This tournament is a stepping-stone for the next generation of Canadian cricketers,” Cricket Canada treasurer Gurdeep Klair, a member of the International Cricket Council’s Executive Committee, said in a statement. “It offers them high-quality exposure in a professional setting, right here at home.

“Playing at a globally recognized venue like B.C. Place demonstrates the significant progress Canadian cricket has made — taking the sport to this level is historic. And having a women’s competition from Day 1 sends a strong message to young girls across the country — cricket is for them too, and they can aspire big.”
