The Lethbridge Hurricanes struck a deal on Friday sending forward Chase Petersen to the Moose Jaw Warriors.

In exchange, the Hurricanes received 17-year-old forward Cole Dupuis along with a seventh round pick in the upcoming 2026 WHL Prospects Draft that originally belonged to the Calgary Hitmen that Moose Jaw acquired last season as part of the Kalem Parker trade.

Petersen was drafted by the Hurricanes in the second round of the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft, 23rd overall. In 58 career regular season games as a Hurricane, Petersen registered three goals and two assists along with 33 penalty minutes. He skated in one playoff game for the Hurricanes last year.

“We would like to thank Chase for his contributions to the Hurricanes in his time. He’s been a great teammate and a good person and we wish him nothing but the best in Moose Jaw,” said Hurricanes general manager Peter Anholt in a press release.

Dupuis went undrafted in the WHL Prospects Draft and has skated in seven games this season for the Estevan Bruins in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League recording one goal, one assist and six penalty minutes.

Last season with the Brandon U18 AAA Wheat Kings, Dupuis tallied 35 goals and 33 assists in 47 games along with 10 points (7g, 3a) in eight playoff games.

The Hurricanes return to action on home ice tonight against the Red Deer Rebels. Puck drops at 6 p.m.
