What is happening in Canadian houses?

By Letter to the Editor on October 10, 2018.

Barbara Bush once said. “You must read to your children and you must hug your children and you must love your children. Your success as a family, our success as a society, depends not on what happens in the White House, but what happens inside your house.”

What is happening in Canadian houses? Parents are giving in to government and media propaganda saying their values and beliefs supersede that of the home. Unsurprisingly, our children are rejecting family values, succumbing to distressing identity confusion, abusing drugs at an ever-increasing rate and suffering unprecedented mental illnesses.

Parents need to realize that reversing these alarming trends can only be achieved by people who have a genuine personal love for their children. We cannot continue to allow dictatorial governments, their institutions and media ratings to set morals, values and ethical standards, from the top down. Their motives and expediency have corrupted true diversity of thought and turned the legacy of our forefathers into disgrace, shame and dishonour. No wonder our children are becoming malleable clones of an Orwellian Society!

As Frost once revealed of an unsatisfied life, “they have nothing to look backward to with pride nor anything to look forward to with hope.”

We need to make Barbara Bush’s maxim our goal. Our success as a society does truly depend upon what happens inside our homes.

Your tribute to Barbara Bush aside, what exactly is your prescription for what parents should do inside their houses? What is your prescription for parents to follow to have perfect children. What exactly do you envision as the perfect school environment? Do you mean to say that GSAs and evidence-based sex education are harming young people? Do you mean the stripping of funding from education that happened in the past so we have to catch up now? Do you mean the gutting of PSE by the former PC Governments of Alberta and the corporatization of our universities – turning them in to job training programs instead of scholarship?

In short, say what you mean; because otherwise, you leave folks reading between the lines and all I can hear are dog-whistles when I do.

I had to read between the lines as well.

Given wording such as, “family values, succumbing to distressing identity confusion”, then I suspect Mr. Dietrich is referring to religion. If so, then it’s ironic that the negative characteristics of government that Mr. Dietrichs points out, are basically the same negative characteristics of religion.

indeed! you have to truly love the lbgtq2 out of your child in the home; squeeze it out of them in the form of a crushing, loving hug if necessary. do not let your kids be woefully influenced by gov’ts and media into becoming anything other than what their physical body says they are (sorry hermaphrodites, but you will have to choose to be either straight male or female…no dual citizenship). let us kneel, hold hands together, cherish the good book, and give prayer and praise to barbara bush and the baby jeshush that our kids will fit one of only two moulds: straight male, or straight female. let us pray together that will not be influenced by their gov’ts and media into thinking they can switch teams, or play intimately with players on the same team. of all the insidious things our gov’ts have done to the masses through history, opening the doors toward allowing people the right to their bodies, to freely associate, to be safe from acts of discrimination/hatred is a relative giant leap in the decent direction…despite how one might wish to invoke/interpret the “scriptures” and the giant intellects of our time, such as the inimitable “just say no” barbara bush. one hopes the writer does not fall down a hole whilst continuing to walk backward through life.

Maybe Richard just maybe we need to find a quick antidote for the wide-spread cancer known as “political correctness.” This cancer is very wide spread through-out Canada and has no-doubt infested homes and the young with its twisted logic. Liberal power everywhere have fed and watered this cancer to the point where it has affected Canadian homes but hope is on the horizon. Liberal governments are being punted all over Canada, Ontario the latest and soon the Nutley and Trudeau s…t-shows will be history. So hang in there Richard i see light at the end of the tunnel.

I am still being amused from day to day on the amazing flexibility in all the holy books! Where there was zero tolerance for any deviation from the written word, suddenly deviation is now the standard created by populists. Would love to be able to go back in time to debate the very Priests and Nuns who pummeled and abused me, as to whether my crimes of yesteryear were so noteworthy as to imprint bad things about the entire religion today! Who would of known that anyone can now interpret and set the rules, just by starting populist waves lol!
